Figured it was about time I'd get my submission from the Blizzard Writing Contest submitted, and seeing as I've read a lot of the stuff and given feedback here, I found it fitting to post it as well.
As described in
the post I did about it
, I only fixed what was really fatal from the submitted version (spelling and general missing stuff because I began a bit too late), to keep it as close as the original as possible.
So, without further due, here you are:
"A Change of Ways"
(in pdf-format).
Feedback would be lovely, as it's my first
REAL
attempt. Hope you enjoy reading it! :)
Short summary:
The tale of Tanek the tauren shaman, who is tormented with nightmares, and has felt it increasingly hard to communicate with the elements. He journeys out to find answers....

Coooooooooool leaves it opne for more, is there more coming?
There might, depending on how much it's wanted. That being said, I have a few ideas (as it was intended to be a longer story).

Very awesome, chapter 2 looks promising. How did your story do in the contest?
Well, I didn't win at least, so it's hard to know if I was "just behind" or not. One can hope, but I'll never know.
Also, thanks for the nice words - great to hear that everyone likes it so far! Seems like I really should consider "Chapter 2". :)

Changed the title to be... well, slightly better, and added a short summary.
... and sadly, also a silent bump.

Almost 100 reads, and only... 4 comments? It being on PDF-form and 5 pages really shouldn't make it impossible or tormenting to chew through, now would it? :P
Anyway, I've gotten some neat ideas for a second (and, believe it or not, even a third) part of the story, to conclude it in a small trilogy. It doesn't really mean it'll be soon, but as the ideas form, I'll surely continue it - after all, there has been no negative comments yet... :)

Read count is still rising, but did noone actually read it, or just doesn't care to post feedback?
Did everyone loose the interest of fan fiction that actually takes a while to read...? Sad to think that I have to try and find another place to get feedback :/

Ooh - cheers for the kind words! Almost missed it... :P
I'll try to get part 2 out later during the month, and the plot is pretty much planned out already, so it's just a matter of getting the time for getting it scribbled down. Only, this time, it's not going to be rushed. I'll keep you posted, don't worry.

Obviously, the "later this month" never got anywhere, but that doesn't mean I've given it up. I have quite some notes scribbled down about the second part (that is, I never deleted the old ones I had), but yeah... I simply haven't got the time (along with the peace and inspiration I require to write) to get it done. Should maybe be a reality during the late spring, early summer.
The outline is there at least, with the second part taking place on Northrend. Luckily I havn't come against any lore-clashes that would force it dead in its track. Thus, even a third part is very possible.
.... funny how it goes. I got a few ideas just by writing the text above. Would also be nice to get a few fresh eyes on the story, as quite a few new faces have joined these forums since October. Let me hear what you think - nothing like constructive criticism or a pat on the back to get the ideas back :)

I was sure I had commented on this the first time around. Nonetheless, a very good job indeed.

God... I am not going to post my contest submission here.
Why? Because it sucked.
Other then that, great story Gnub.
