Basic Talent Build
The talent build above is intended for Brewmasters who are fairly new to the spec. Here's a quick list of why I chose these talents:
Eye of the Tiger is the most consistent healing throughput of the three and is fully passive.
Celerity was chosen as its a passive, consistent movement choice and you don't need to worry about another button.
Black Ox Brew, even if spammed to just get more Ironskin Brew uptime, gives you a lot more wiggle room to focus on learning the rest of the class and any encounters you are fighting.
Leg Sweep's just a solid choice in general for all content, though the Ox Statue is also a very strong choice for raid encounters with adds.
Healing Elixir is essentially the default talent for that tier unless you are facing a boss with predictable high magic damage.
Special Delivery is again a passive option, which allows for players to not worry about having to weave in Rushing Jade Wind or time the use of Niuzao.
High Tolerance was chosen as it is the strongest damage smoothing talent of the tier and requires the least amount of finesse to use well.
This is a more advanced Brewmaster Monk build, largely intended for raiders.
This is a more aggressive Brewmaster Monk build, centered around dungeon content.
Please read below for more specific information on situations where changes to these above builds would be prudent.
Below, I go into detail on all the talents for each tier, and when it's a good idea to pick what. I strongly recommend reading this as the above build is a decent general build, but will be sub-optimal for specific situations.
Level 15 Talents
- perform a hadouken and deal damage to all enemies in the burst of chi's path as well as healing yourself and
any allies in
's path. More bursty, reliable group healing than the other options for group content. Adequate, impactful self healing.
- When you hit an enemy with
, it will also deal damage over time and heal you over time. Doesn't stack
or affect multiple enemies. If you prefer overall healing numbers in group content, this is the optimal choice.
- Shoot out a wave of chi which bounces between random enemies and allies in its range, dealing damage and healing
respectively. This is best used when in solo content such as leveling and world questing, as the healing per hit isn't that significant
when spread out across multiple allies. It also requires higher efficiency of the player to maintain its power, as it has a fairly short cooldown.
Level 30 Talents
- Increases the distance traveled by
as well as giving you a stacking movement speed buff. Great
for when you need to travel fast for a long distance / time, very useful in world content and while leveling.
- An activatable movement speed increase / anti-root/slow cooldown. Best choice for short but fast bursts of speed
and for groups where the extra utility is nice.
- Reduces the cooldown of
by 5 seconds and gives it a third charge. A solid choice if you don't want
Level 45 Talents
- Reduces the cooldown of your Brews by 3 seconds and grants a fourth charge. The only time you would ever want
to use this is when you have high haste (about 30+%) and you aren't comfortable with
. More or less, just stick with
Black Ox Brew and learn how to use it effectively. This talent does not provide sufficient brew generation to maintain
and comfortably purify.
- A 1.5 minute cooldown which instantly restores all brew charges and energy. Good for encounters where you need to
regularly use more than your normal allotment of Brews in a very short period of time. More difficult to use for more brew charges
during a fight but very rewarding if you can maximize its efficiency. Black Ox Brew excels at being extremely good at either brew throughput or
emergency brew usage, though its hard to balance between both of these. Do note that this talent's cooldown is reduced as all of your other
brews do, so you're going to be seeing it more than once every 1.5 minutes! This is generally seen as the best talent of the tier.
- Makes your
orbs spawn more frequently when you take damage. The more damage and the lower your health,
the more orbs spawn. This is a good talent for easier content (like leveling and world content) where you need to rely less on the damage
smoothing of your Brews and more on self healing, but I would not recommend it for any group content.
Level 60 Talents
- Places a ring at the target location which knocks enemies out of it if they enter it. This has some situational use in dungeons, where
you can effectively CC an entire pack of enemies if you drop out of Line of Sight and place this in their path to you. This also has strong benefits in PvP,
allowing you to deny enemies from moving through small gaps.
흑우 조각상 소환
- Summons Dave (the
), which taunts all enemies nearby it. You can use
on it to taunt
all enemies surrounding the statue onto you. Great for encounters with regular points where adds spawn and with practiced use, is excellent for initially
aggroing a group of mobs. Dave is also very effective at mass-pulling in world content, making him an all-around fun pick.
- Stuns all nearby enemies around you for 5 seconds. This will likely be your comfort pick in most content.
Level 75 Talents
- Heals you for 15% of your total health. Has two charges with a 30 second recharge time and will automatically proc if you
have a charge available and hit 35% health. This is a great choice for leveling, easier group content, world content, and encounters where you cannot
really use either of the other talents effectively. Generally speaking, this should be your default talent for this tier and you should change it out if the
content you are doing favors one of the other options.
- Increases our ability to stagger magic damage by 40%. Do note this is not an additive 40% and its additive value is relative to the
amount of stagger you have. See
for a quick run-down of how much additional magic stagger this talent provides. If there is a fight with high,
relatively frequent magic burst, or a dungeon with larger amounts of magic damage, this talent will shine.
- When before this talent was effectively broken, now Dampen Harm shines in its purpose: variable but reliable damage reduction.
It now reduces all damage taken by 20% to 50% for 10 seconds. How much it reduces is dependent on the size of the incoming attack. If you find yourself
in content where you need an additional cooldown in order to survive, Dampen Harm is the talent for you. If playing at a higher difficulty level in M+ or raids,
you can safely use this as a default talent rather than
Level 90 Talents
- Deals AoE damage over time. Its cooldown and duration is affected by haste. This is a solid consistent AoE damage spell that functions
very nicely as a filler if you feel the spec is too slow. It is also the strongest DPS talent of the tier, assuming you can maintain its uptime well.
흑우 니우짜오의 원령
- Summons the great celestial Niuzao. Niuzao can taunt enemies (which can be turned off if you prefer), charge at them, and
stomp to deal AoE damage. This is the intended choice if you desire a better capacity to burst down targets when needed.
- When you use either
you throw a keg into the air, landing on a nearby enemy, dealing damage
and slowing the target. The slowing debuff will also enable
's damage over time effect. This does decent enough damage, but unless
you are having a lot of difficulty using
on cooldown, it won't pump out nearly as high of numbers.
Level 100 Talents
- When you use
, you will gain additional chance to dodge as well as a damage buff for the same amount for 6 seconds.
The amount varies depending on the level of stagger you purified (6.67% for light stagger, 13.33% for medium stagger, 20% for heavy stagger). You also now
purify an additional 20% of your stagger pool when you use
. This is the best talent on the row for reducing overall damage taken
(but not spike damage). It's a solid talent for content you overgear for the damage buff, or content where you do not need to really worry about spike
damage as much, such as while leveling or easier dungeons where you wouldn't miss the higher burst reduction of other talents.
의식 상실 연계
- When you use
의식 상실의 일격
, it empowers the following abilities:
- Increases its damage by 200%
- Reduces the cooldown for your next
to 9 seconds (from 15)
- Now reduces the remaining cooldown on brews by 6 seconds (up from 4)
- Pauses damage taken from
for 3 seconds
- Provides a stack of
특화: 교묘한 투사
This is more or less the most flexible talent on the tier, but it requires a lot of thought as far as your priority is concerned. You will now want to save
의식 상실의 일격
, in that priority. This will generate a significant amount of brew cooldown reduction and
will be excellent at maintaining the
damage reduction debuff more efficiently. If you are confident in your play, this is a solid talent
due to its flexibility and ability to provide both offense and defense. Alternatively, focus purely on comboing
for notably high DPS.
- Increases base stagger by 10% as well as providing a haste buff that provides a relative amount of haste depending on the
severity of your stagger pool; 5% for light stagger 10% for medium stagger, and 15% for heavy stagger. This is actually a fairly competitive
choice for progression content if you are uncomfortable using
의식 상실 연계
, as it will reduce spike damage more efficiently and will actually
begin to out-perform it in brew generation once you hit an average of medium stagger across a fight, assuming you aren't using
