Easy to avoid the few dwarven guards at the front of Aerie Peak. Get near the well and use the spear. The spear places instantly, and you also PvP flag automatically once you place it. This can be bad if you do this at a peak time. The flight point in Aerie Peak is where the Alliance usually come in to run Scholomance, so there's a chance of running into a good number of high level players.

Try to do this at off peak times. It's fairly easy to scout out any possible pursuers. On a PvP server... good luck. I've helped slaughter more than one group of Horde players trying to finish this one. Also note that one of the Wildhammer dwarves will yell an alarm once you place the spear, so throw stealth out the window once you use it.

its far from impossible, but your going to die once. just run in, press the spear, (its an instant cast) get as far away as possible, die. then ress away from the guards =)

I rode down the road from Tarren Mill right up to within thirty yards of the well, dropped the pike and mounted up and road back to Tarren Mill.

No aggro from Guard or Player.

A really easy and fast to do quest without any trouble! One lvl 65 guard may aggro but he walks up and down the hill so just make sure he's not there when you are.

Aggroed the guard, but easily outran him. He hit me once for around 100 damage. Was expecting a lot of trouble, but it was simple. Lvl 50 protection pally.

Easy. Did this on my level 49 druid without problems. Stealthed to the well, placed the banner and dashed out.

Couldn't be more simple.

The well is at 13,47. It's very easy. Just wait for guards to walk out of range then run in and plant the quest item.

With dismount on cast, this quest is even easier. I just threw the "message" on my hotbar, rode up to the well on my mount and hit the button. Auto dismount, item planted, kept right on going without getting hit once.

It was easy as a level 48 warlock, i made sure i had my voidwalker out, then i got as close as i could to the well, then when i aggroed a gaurd i just sac'ed my voidwalker for the shield threw down the item and ran like hell, the shield broke just as the gaurd de aggroed and ran off.

Easy quest, I didnt get caught by a guard and just slamed that spike in.

I just did this as a lvl 54 Tauren Shaman, elemental spec'd, I ran in mounted up (as reccomended from eschient) got to the well, hit the item on my hotbar, remounted and took off. Only saw one guy pursuing (way back there) and he was a ??. so I just kept on going. Aggro'd a wolf but that was it all the way back to camp. Easy 2g.

@sodamonster: Smart Alliance would use Wildhammer. It is a much shorter distance to Scholomance than Chillwind Camp because of the ravine passage.

easy quest indeed, i just did it as a lvl 57 mage, i got to the well put the thing in then had some 65 elite guard chase me, but i got away....its an easy use item and run quest.

Popped an invisibility potion just as the patrolling sentry passed the well, sneaked in, then clicked my Nifty Stopwatch and ran! Only opposition I ran into was a couple Allys that took potshots at me as I fled.

Still kinda surprised I pulled it off, much less that it was actually that easy.

Hmm not sure what you guys are doing, but I mounted up and ran right to the well and even stood around for a few seconds before placing the spear because I had to find it in my inventory.. I placed the banner and saw the yell, then waited to see if anyone would attack just for fun. I didn't agro a single gaurd or see any alliance.

solo'd as a lvl 51 combat rouge pretty easy put the spear on your hot bar run to the well wait for the guards to pass plant and run like hell!

watch out as of patch 2.3 the guards are around lvl 65

Well is right in front of the town. Nothing comes. I waited for the yell. Nothing. There was a lvl 46 human there but he didn't do anything. This is cake. Drop the spear and hearth back to Revantusk. (you should have it hearthed anyway if you're doing the quests here)

Kinda dumb that the reward from this quest is only useful to Shamans, Resto Druids, and Balance Druids....

This isnt super hard, but not as easy as some of the previous postings. I did this as a 50 Frost Mage, there is a simple way to do this. Run in mounted, make sure that the spear is some where on the action bar so that u can cast it while mounted. Cast the spear and get the hell outta dodge! I dont care how far away you think the dwarves are, they know that u are there as well as the Human standing close to the well. Once u drop it you will aggro the whole town I promise. If you are a mage, I strongly suggest, frost nova then blink and do it till u get away. Good Luck!

It was fairly simple for me to do on a PvE server. When I got about 25-30 yds away from the well... I was on my mount and was waiting for that one dwarven guard to walk up the hill. After he had gone up the hill, I ran in while mounted and placed the spear near the wall and had enough time to get back on my mount to run away. =]

I did this today as level 57. The quest was marked as being low level (green), but still gave 5100 XP. And as others have stated, you dont have to fight a single mob. cheers!

As a 49 affliction lock, I ran in dropped the spear, mounted up and ran out without a problem. Easy as pie.

This quest had me spooked at first. I think there were a lot of reasons. One , I hate this zone. Just hate the dark colors and the blending of everything. My eyes! The other is I've been alliance since beta and even tho my warlock is 49, every time the death guards run after something, I duck. My mind is still alliance and this has been quite a change. I'm used to aerie peak as alliance and it felt so odd having to sneak up there.
One tip tho, it is just faster to fly to tauren mill and leave from there. Faster and less mobs.
The guard walks to the Right of the well, but then he comes back rather quickly. Don't run up until he makes his route which is to the Right of the well, then back to the well and on to the hill where the flight master is.
I waited until he was just out of sight as he walked up the hill to the FM. (which is to the left of the well)
As far as where to approach from: stay or go into the grass area that would be directly to the side of the road/path.
The well is going to be directly behind one of those stone fixtures with fire. Because I have eye of kilrogg I could see where the guard walked..
If you cannot, then try to find an area where you can see the hill that leads to the flight master.
Just wait until you see him head up that hill. Once he has done that you have at least 20 seconds to place the pole.
I did just that and then had time to use my hearth stone.
I did not check to see if I was flagged, so I can't speak to that.
All in all, it was not that bad. There is just one guard and once he is on the way up the hill, there is nothing else to worry about.
Except- mobs. I was so intent trying to see where the guard was that I didn't see the wolves.
I would suggest it might be easier in daytime light, but all in all, this place seems dark at any time.
I think this is just about my last quest in the hinterlands and I'm not sorry to leave! ;)

This quest is extremely easy. I flew to Hillsbrad first and then ran to Aerie Peak from there. 14,48 are the coords. And I happened to aggro the ONE level 65 guard (lol) and i just ran away and didnt get touched and planted it and left.

Way too easy, flew to Hillsbrad and then headed to the Hinterlands. Planted the message, sent my Felguard to attack the guard who attackeded us and hearthed back to Revantusk within a few minutes,

He does raise an alarm though so you might want to be careful just in case any high levels are there...

I might add this quest doesn't add to the Loremaster of Eastern Kalimdor achievement and obviously neither did the previous step.

Did this quest today on my 54 mage, and even with the guy sounding the alarm I sat around for about 30 seconds on my mount and nobody came running. Rode back to Tarren Mill and flew back to turn the quest in. Considering you're flagged as soon as you plant the spear, taking the Tarren Mill flight path definitely works better than the long run back across the Hinterlands and maybe getting ganked.

I got 10,200 XP with heirloom shoulders and chest.

It should be noted that planting the spear will automatically flag you for PvP, for those of you on a PvE server.

lol anyone on gorefiend needs the quest done and are too scared to solo hit up Darktian, ill trash that joint, dk ftw! oh btw, was easy on my hunter, i scouted the place out first of course, didnt wanna deal with any allies

While other posts show how to do it without getting hit, I did not have the patience for that. As a 49 Lock, I saw that the high level guard was approaching. I had my voidwalker on aggressive and let him deal with the guard while I placed the "message". I then ran out of the area and the threat went away when it finished off my voidwalker. I figured that the soul shard and the mana used to bring back another voidwalker was better than dealing with waiting until the guard was away. Good Luck!

Done at level 47 with no issues at all. I flew to Tarren Mill, mounted up into Aerie Peak and planted the spear. One level 65 guard started chasing me, but I didn't get hit once. I just sprinted out, headed over to Tarren Mill and flew back to Revantusk Village to turn in the quest.
