There are about seven of these devices scattered through the instance around the second and third boss. There's a whole lot more in the final room just before you fight the last boss, Murmur (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=18708).

They are objects, not drops - and they have three prongs, the center of which has a small circular torch on the top.

There are 4 in the room with Blackheart the Inciter, in the little huts to the left and right that there are orcs in.

I would imagine this is possible as a rogue or druid to stealth run this quest. As you enter the room of Blackheart the Inciter, go to the top right hand corner of the room, and there's a purple tent with 2 soul devices in. If you very carefully go behind the tent, and edge closer to the soul devices, you are able to loot them and get away without pulling the mobs, then out -> reset -> repeat.

However, this is coming from a mage, im not sure how easy it is to stealth to that room in the first place.

And remember, this is only a suggestion, not 100% sure you'll be able to stealth to the room of Blackheart easily, even at all.

There are at least 10 Soul Devices... in the room of the 2nd boss... in the skeleton room... and along the sides of the room before the warlock boss and by the codex of blood... and plenty more along the hallway to Murmur.

Most Soul Device are in Murmur's room . But in way to him u will find more like 6 Soul Device .

Be sure to take the 1st the Soul Device , so a group member won't take it from you . :D

Found 1 of those devices in the abandoned village in Terokkar Forest @ 44.9, 39.7, but have already finished the quest so can't confirm if it works as a quest item.

I soloed this quest as a level 70 rogue without Improved Sap (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=14076), just go behind the hut to the right, so far away you can, take the sould devices, quit the instance and reset it, repeat. I am sure it could be done as a feral druid too :).

Yup confirmed, you can do it as rogue. There are 2 you can get in tent just make sure to do it BEHIND tent not in it. Tried the other way and got owned in 1.2 secs. Sap gaurd nearest tent, go behind tent take 2 crystal, stealth, go outside instance and reset then repeat...Sweet!

As a 70 druid i managed to stealth solo this bit, in the second room i when behind the tents on the west side and looted from there if you get your camera angle right you can loot trhrough the tents, i tried to stay as far ack as possible but no agrro at all...Great!

As a lv 70 frost mage I was able to solo Find Spy To'gun quest. Got 1 Soul Device from tent West side of the room where 2nd boss is but I got agro when I tried get another Soul Device from tent.

I made multiple attempts to do this quest solo on a level 70 balance druid. It is an easy stealth to both Hellmaw's and Blackhearts rooms. Just stay as tight to the wall as you can. One npc to be extra careful of is the fel reaver that patrols the short hallway leading into Blackheart's room. The reaver has a short patrol, stopping just past the end of each side of the hallway. It's safe to run past him (between the wall and the brazier at the corner) into the hall when he is at the end of his patrol, and then run into and around the corner into Blackheart's room. I got stuck in the brazier at the far end the first time and didn't make it into the room. The reaver stopped and stared at me a long time, but did not aggro.

There are two tents near the dias where Blackheart walks around.

The left-hand tent (as you approach Blackheart) has two soul devices, one near the front as you approach the tent, the other at the back of the tent. I did not try the one near the front as it required getting too close to the mobs on that side. The one at the back "should" be collectible, but for some reason I could not see the device from behind the tent, and could not find an angle where the device was both visible and in range. Some posters seemed to have found a way to do this, but I couldn't get the angle.

The tent on the other side only has one soul device. Had the same problem with camera angle on this one, too, until I figured out that there is a tiny crease at the back of the tent that allowed me to see inside. I was able to collect this device, being very careful to stay at max distance possible before unstealthing. It's tricky, and I died a couple of times when I didn't have just the right position.

So it's definitely doable, if you have a lot of patience and are willing to reset and re-enter multiple times.

i solo'd this as a lvl 70 combat rogue with 13 points in the subtility tree.

first enter the instance and make sure to stay out of the mobs agro ranges. use distract to keep them looking away from you. keep doing this till you reach the large room where the stands are.

now go over to each side, there should be two mobs there. sap the closest one and begin to open the devices. when the other one agros use blind to get him away from you. finesh opening and use vanish when blind wears off.

wait for your cooldowns to come back and repeat. there are only 4 stands in the room so you mite have to reset the instance once and go back in.

yes it takes awhile but if you cant seem to get a shadow labs group going and need better armbands then its worth it

soloed as 70 feral druid with 3/3 feral instinct, and +1 stealth level on my boots, just go as much range as i could from the hut, then collected, and quickly shadowmelded (the closest guy turned around when i went unstealthed, so pretty close to failing)

1- unequip all your durability items, you will probably die several times.

2- you can get into shadow lab without the key, by dying outside the gate and ressing inside. (fly up, and drop worked for me)

3- if you harvest 1 soul device and reset each time, you'll not be able to go into another instance for 1 hour afterwards (You have entered too many instances recently!)

How to collect the devices: the only one i found i could get was in Blackheart the Inciter's room, as you enter, its in a blue tent on the far right. There's 2 guys just outside the tent, and 2 devices, one of which is in the far right corner (looking at it as you enter the room)

Go behind the corner of the tent, spin the camera around with left mouse button so you can see inside it, and loot. If you're about 2-3 yards away, you can loot without aggroing the guys. Run out, reset, repeat x5. takes about 4-5 mins per attempt.

A note on the distance: if you're more than ~2-3 yards away when you right click on something, you character runs over to it, and stops next to it, and starts to open it. The problem with this is you stop VERY close to the item, say 1-2 yards from it. This will get aggro and you'll die.
If you're about 2-3 yards away, you can still loot, but your character doesn't move forwards.
This distance difference is crucial, turn 'always run' off, will help you move to the right place (default key is numpad slash: / )

total time for soloing the whole chain was about an hour.

soloed as a 69 rogue, just went into the room, went to the tent on the right, sapped the closest mob and sidestepped making sure i could still open the object, got both, got myself killed reset the instance and repeated

was able to solo this as a 70 fire mage.
1. use invisibility to get to the hallway like you did for the spy'togun quest.
2. when the cooldown is up, use invisibility again and run to blackheart's room and make a left. there is a hill you can run up where you won't aggro any mobs when invisibility wears off.
3. go to the clearing on your left. from there, sheep one of the mobs and frost nova the second mob as you run toward the tent. loot the soul device.
4. the frost nova will break at this point. run back toward the clearing and ice block to let the frost nova cooldown end. frost nova again and loot the second soul device.
5. die, rez, reset instance

still a lengthy process, but a fun challenge. :)

In 2.4 as a level 69, I received 25300 experience for completing this quest. Stealth classes ftw...

I just solo'd this quest on my 70 rogue (mutilate spec). Took me 2 resets to get all five, but I did it without Vanish or Blind. Go to the right of the room with Blackheart the Inciter. I sapped the closest of the 2 guards, just in case, backed as far into the tent as possible, and looted the soul devices without aggroing anything. Stealth back out, reset, repeat. Easy quest for a nice set of bracers.

I got 4/5 needed on a run with some higher lvl's but as there was 2 of us that needed them and only 9 in the instance so i ended up being 1 short. As a 69 Balance Druid i went cat form (solo)and stealthed in to where i cld get get one and had time to loot the one i needed b4 i died. GL.

Not sure if it's a bug, but this quest credited me with 2 quests towards the "3000 Quests Completed" achievement.

As a stealth class you can solo it at 69: in inciter's room on the right there is an orb that you can loot without drawing aggro. Just stand behind the tent as far as possible, turn your screen and click the orb.

Wowhead says "This quest was marked obsolete by Blizzard and cannot be obtained or completed", but I picked it up, ran it, and turned it in today on my 90 lock without any difficulties at all when completing a couple of other lowbie quests.

I came to check on this quest and noticed it says "This quest was marked obsolete by Blizzard and cannot be obtained or completed.". As of 8/31/14 I was able to obtain and successfully complete this quest with no issues.
