This expansion will be epic beyond Hogger's paw.
The title...is disturbing.
a gnome shrank the world and reached into the sun, grabbed a dragon, and threw it across the ocean...
It's a quest designed to learn noobies deathwing bossfight strategies =P
Took me a while to figure it out, but you have to grow to max size, target a cloud, then do your thing. I thought the clouds were just "there".
a dwarf a gnome and an orc walk into a bar..
So u can run around in Badlands and hitting just 2.. it will search the clouds even if u dont target em.. when u get 5 and u r bigger enough.. find 1 cloud search it, if its not there look right up.. theres a big ball over your head (the sun) just click on it and the quest is done. Thats it!
Has anyone had any issues with theis quest glitching? During the Gnome portion, after I get the 5 clouds, I look up, and nothing........I even search around for the sun, and I still got nothing....I had to abandon the quest like 5 times, very frustrating.
I had to abandon this quest three times before it worked properly, and on the "winning attempt" the only change I made was waiting a little while before clicking on the sun, after searching in the last cloud. I recommend waiting for the text to start fading when it tells you to "look up" before clicking, otherwise you might be in for a headache.
This quest is a PAIN! I was multiboxing and it only worked on 1 of my characters, but not the other one. OMG it is so frustrating. I always get the 5th cloud, but when I look up there is no sun. Maybe there is a bug. I'm gonna open a ticket.
Ok check this out. There has been these weird glitches where instead of quest objectives or objects there are little Blue and White checkered boxes and on this quest i saw a very very very tiny one next to the sun when you look up and i had to actually click the blue and white checkered box to complete this quest. If you cant find a certain item or or anything just try to look for those checkered boxes. If anybody else sees them please tell me because it would suck if its only me. Good work Blizzard!
If you have trouble with this one, as I did, run up and down the gorge (after you grow to max size)... if you can't find the clouds, they're probably on either side of the little gorge you start in. It can be a pain climbing up the sides, but you'll find a way. Get close to each of 5 clouds, then use your cloud searching ability.
After getting the 5 clouds, I went to Lethlor Ravine and saw a large circle like a sun, click it and get Deathwing. Very easy!
While you're on this quest, it turns out tromping around as a giant gnome is a great way to finish
if you haven't already.
If the sun doesn't show up after collecting the clouds, click the eject button to get out of the story, then ask the gnome to tell you the story again. You'll still get credit for searching the clouds and the sun should appear as well.
When you look up at the sun there are tiny dots in the sky. Click on one of them to grab Deathwing.
In case anyone is still having trouble seeing the dots... turn your video settings up... thats the only way I could get it to work
Confirmed. Once you eject and ask Lucien to tell you the story again, make sure you grow as big as possible or the sun still won't show up.
I heard the problem with the checkered boxes is something to do with a graphics card or something
The sun didn't show up either for me. I backtracked, found a another cloud, and searched it. Then suddenly, the clouds cleared up and the sun was right above me.
Interesting, I decided to take a walk and the clouds can be found all over the Badlands, so take a walk, it will go faster.
If you're a player that's looking to get the 'Explore Badlands' achievement when you're leveling in the zone, instead of coming back with a flying mount, this quest is a great time to get the achievement. The gnome travels quite fast, despite his walking animation playing slowly, and he doesn't have to deal with any mobs making it very, very easy to travel to areas you haven't yet revealed.
I know some people may prefer to use their flying mount to earn the achievement, but this is an excellent alternative.
Fun fact: If you right-click to attack "Cowardly Deathwing" after grabbing him, he'll hit you (or actually the gnome) for around
35 million damage
i killed horde
Just a tip, when you are doing this quest you need to improve your view distance if it isn't at at least good or else it will appear foggy and you will have trouble finding the clouds.
What a !@#$ing pain int he ass! How many *!@#ing times do I have to abandon this and retry for it to work properly? F.F.S
Enlarge yourself 5 or so times by casting the spell.
Walk around looking for clouds at eye level, target cloud, cast search cloud spell.
Once you search 5 clouds he will tell you the dragon is in the sun.
Look up and you will most likely see stars not the friggin sun.
Move mouse around to large stars and see if you get the gear mark like in fishing when you mouse over it. If so click. Quest Done!
Pain in the A
You can go into the cave of Uldaman despite being incredibly large. You can't actually enter Uldaman (sadly), but you can get all the way to the portal. Pretty weird!
Lie Gnome, what is the saddest thing?
You CAN do this quest at night, but you won't find the sun, just the teensy little white pixel almost directly over your head -- looks like a star in the night sky.
After having done this on several characters while RAFing, I have finally sorted out the trick to getting the sun to appear. You don't have to listen to the story again or any of that.
Once you've caught all the clouds, hit 1 (grow) again
. This will trigger the sun. As some have noted, sometimes it appears as a tiny set of pixel-placeholders high in the sky and you have to really search for it. Other times it will show up just fine right in front of you.
yea its tarisclator im doing this quest over a hour now and my patience is running out ,do i thought he says like i look up to the sun bla bla so maybe i have to play this quest in day time please let me know .
This has to be the most hillarious and fun quest ive seen yet, besides the one in hillsbrad where you are a quest giver
The clouds look a lot like smoke or mist, it took me a while to find cause I was looking up until I noticed they were actually in front of me
I LOL'd all the way though this quest. It is a fun quest line with comedy in it.
Not necessary. You could just click another cloud and it should work.
The thing with this quest is...you can run allover Badlands, your not just restricted to the Scar. So just get up to 5 times with the growth spell then run around until you see those grayish hues with lightning in them. Once you target the cloud click the button to search through it, or heck I don't even think you need to target it. As for the sun for the second part, you need to look up and move in close until the gear turns gold and you can click on it. Hope this helps!
Straight from my combat log.
"Cowardly Deathwing's melee swing hits Lucien Tosselwrench for 103 Physical. (81425201 Overkill) (Critical)
this whole quest line is some of the stupidest quest line so far in cata. a complete waste of time. good exp at lvl 46 and some crappy rewards for a warrior. i know bliz can do better than this. and i know people will downrate. and its ok. people are entitled to there own thoughts.
Right when you go to turn in the quest, he says
"The end. No moral."
That made me lol.
So for this quest I had a very hard time but figured it out. You will end up with a little tool bar for the guy. Press 1 five times to get big. Then you need to walk around everywhere in the badlands looking for a mist which is a cloud. Every time you run into one press 2. It might take some time, it isn't just in that gorge, if you look at your map, it is pretty much the whole area. Then it will say he is hidden in the sun, look straight up and click on it and he will come down and then you punch him and it takes you back for part 3 of the quest.
Awesome quest line! Epic! Thanks for all the great tips. Was having a helluva time with the cloud thing till I read the posts.
This quest bugged for me on multiple occasions. I was able to grow large enough to reach the clouds, but after three separate attempts, I still have not been able to search a cloud. I can target the cloud and the tooltip shows that it can be searched, but the '2' option does nothing and I was not given credit for searching the clouds. The first two times, I abandoned the quest but was not dismounted, so I had to log off the game. When I logged back in, I was disconnected from the server. The third time, I figured I would try leaving the zone and having the quest dismount me, but I got all the way to Blackrock Mountain in Blasted Lands, and I was still on the gnome....
Edit: After doing some research and opening a ticket, many of the issues presented throughout (clouds not appearing, not being able to search clouds, sun not appearing, etc...) are often caused by errors within your User Interface (UI). You should also disable any addons or mods running. If that doesn't work, try resetting your UI. To reset your UI, you should move or delete the following folders from within your World of Warcraft directory: WTF, CACHE, INTERFACE. These folders are recreated upon logging in.
Once I disabled my addons, it worked for me. Time spent unusuccessfully with my UI messed up: 34 minutes. Time spent completing the quest after the fix: 3 minutes.

...............BEST QUESTS EVER!
I was very confused about this quest. here is what I figured out so you won't have to go through the same frustration:
1. Keep clicking the sunglasses icon and keep growing, until it will tell you to start searching for the dragon.
2. To search for the dragon, walk around in badlands (not just the scar); the clouds are NOT the ones up in the sky, but eye-level ish things. I didn't know that and was really irritated, I kept spamming the search icon until I got five but it took a long time and was annoying.
3. Once you get five, it'll tell you how it turns out the dragon is in the sun. When you look up toward the sun, it will have a gear sign. Click the gear sign to find the dragon.
I tend to have my graphics on "fair," because that's what my poor little MacBook can best handle. All I saw was a foggy nothingness (sort of what flying through a real cloud on a plane looks like) until I hiked it up to "high." Bingo! World cleared up and there were the above-mentioned cotton balls. (Of course, typing this comment went at a lag of about a character a second until I changed it back XD)
No sun issue; looked up & there it was, clicked the wheel, one Deathwing on his way back to Kalimdor.
I hated it because the whole world was a giant cloud. I stumbled around, managed to snatch some unseen clouds but then fell into Uldaman and was too big to get out. I released the vehicle (which he is) and started over. Luckily I kept the clouds, so it wasn't a quest fail. But then I realized that the problem was the graphics: I had everything down low. I corrected that and suddenly the air cleared and I could see fuzzy little clouds at knee level. After that it was easy.
Bottom line: up the graphics for this one.
Getting the Sun to appear? Make yourself larger? What steps do you take to do the quest, that's what I want to know!
I'm listening to the dwarf's story and all of a sudden I find myself in one of those "vehicle" consoles with the dwarf under me. So one person suggests "Enlarge yourself 5 times or so by casting the spell."
Though it might have been convenient to mention what spell the person is talking about, there are only two buttons on the console, so I hit the first one five times, and, sure enough, the dwarf in front of me got big enough to block my field of view really well and I got the message that I was large enough to search the clouds.
Another person mentioned something about looking for some mist. As I moved forward I saw a misty cloud that stood out from the background somewhat, pressed the second button, and got credit for one cloud searched. As I walked around I wondered how I was going to deal with all the hostile mobs that normally inhabit the Badlands. I never saw any during the quest. So I kept looking for more clouds and after a minute or so the giant dwarf got hung up in the depression in the ground at Hammertoe's Digsite.
Now we all know that one thing to do when a character is stuck on an obstacle is to press the up arrow to move the character forward and press the space bar to jump.
Well he would jump, but not forward. Not in any direction. I finally discovered (after a few minutes) that he would walk up the (now very small) ramp that you would normally use to get your character in and out of the depressed area at that location.
I continued wandering around, getting hung up a few more times, and nailing more clouds. The clouds appeared to have very small green lines in them, like looking at the name over a PvP player (your faction) from a distance.
After the fifth cloud I was told that Deathwing was hiding in the Sun, directly above me. It was very large and actually looked more like Mars (this was at night) and the gear appeared, I right clicked, and the story continued.
The big dwarf threw Deathwing to the ground and I was all of a sudden standing in front of the gold question mark to turn in the quest. A very odd experience to say the least.
The most epic quest there is ever been in history of mankind.
Just fyi for who is using low graphic, put on "good" or you will not see them :) They are spread around questing area everywhere.
whoops, responded to wrong thing
Alright... this is a HELPFUL comment *ahem*
The clouds are as one person commented, at eye level and look like puffs of grey smoke. They are NOT located in the Scar itself but on the sides near the centre. After you check all the clouds, there will be a "sun" within which is Deathwing (miniaturised). Hopefully, you who read this will not have spent 20 minutes in the Scar trying to find clouds like I did... and yes, I am blonde but I dye my hair black... it's called Artificial Intelligence. =P
Turn view distance up to high or ultra first thing. Search the mist looking clows that are around your siz(as 6 sexes big) and are no higher off the ground then you. After that the sun is around the place you started growing a little ways above your head, above the middle of the trench.
If for some reason you wait too long after searching 5/5 clouds and the 'Sun' you are looking for above your head is not visible or has disappeared, just click on your 'Shrink the world' button #1 again and you should attempt to grow larger and make the 'Sun' reappear above your head.
On a side note this is an easy way to get
황야의 땅 탐험
Damn near impossible to see the clouds with lower resolution settings. If all you're seeing is one big fog, you will need to adjust your view distance and environment detail settings.
I started by searching for the clouds in the Scar. Wrong! I left the Scar and then I easily saw the clouds. They are as big as your head and simple to target and 'search'.
I absolutely love how Lucien says "You've got to try this beer". Silly drunk.
Anyone else notice that you REALLY do walk in the Badlands while you are in giant mode? I was discovering unseen places on the map and was getting credit for it. Too funny!
This was one of the most fun I've had questing in SUCH a long time. Just did this on my baby druid and the 3 of these guys made me laugh the whole time!
Bugged, after I searched 5 clouds nothing happens
Clouds will appear on your mini map if you have
기압조절 가스 추출기
in your bags. :3
I hate this quest with the force of a thousand suns.
The quest was bugged when I attempted to do it. I hit the "1" key until the message appeared to search the clouds. I was not able to target anything however and wrote a ticket.
Search the puffy clouds AT GROUND level. Don't be looking UP in the sky. They look more like puffs of smoke ... again, at ground level. Eventually, after searching 5 of the clouds about knee level, the "Sun" will appear right over his head. Grab Deathwing and he''ll toss it out of sight.
You don't really need to "look" for the clouds. Simply walk in a circle around The Scar. The air is a little foggy, but it gets really thick when you walk into a cloud. Then just tap your 2 key. Don't waste time "looking" for something grey-on-grey.
My experience is that the "sun" never appears. Maybe it's because it was night time in the zone when I did the quest.
I got the quest complete by mousing over the first cloud to the right from the quest start point and clicking when I saw the gears.
After reading all the comments about how to find the Deathwing in the sun I finally figured it out. I actually shrank to take a break and came back into the quest later and looked up to see the sun but there was no sun. I hit the "expand" button several times and the cloudy sky above cleared and the sun became a big bright ball. When I passed my mouse over it I saw the "gear", clicked it, and completed the quest.
Still no sun. Maybe it's because it's the wrong time of day? I went through and tried everything mentioned in this thread. Still nothing.
To complete this quest use the following steps:
1. Press 1 several times until the gnome says that you are large enough to search the clouds.
2. Run around the badlands looking for "clouds" - these are at eye level of your gnome, not clouds in the sky. Press 2 whenever you reach one.
3. When you have searched enough clouds, the gnome says that Deathwing is not hiding in the clouds but the sun. Look up to see the sun, an orange ball. Click on it.
I get all done hunting the clouds and the yellow text pops up saying: 'It was then that I realized: he was hiding in the sun. I look up.'
But I look around and there's nothing there cept the swirly gray misty sky. :S
Rrrr..shame, cuz I like this quest chain..
Update: Wandered for a few more min and when I was by those tall stone pillars with the lava-y tops, i saw the sun, couldn't reach so i got on top of one. Clicked sun. Threw Deathwing. Yay!
If you seem stuck because the quest won't advance to the next stage(s), don't abandon the quest right away. Try using the World Shrinker again, that should move things along for you.
Frustration had nearly driven me to commit computercide, until clicking the World Shrinker made the quest advance to the "sun" part.
been walking round of hours and its p***ing me off
I had a problem with the Sun showing up, but it would disappear after I clicked it and nothing else would happen.
If this happens, exit the "vehicle" and then talk to the gnome again. He'll start the story right where it left off. Try clicking the sun again, if it doesn't work, try searching another cloud. I did this and it respawned a second sun, this one worked correctly.
Hope this helps.
When I click on the "sun" absolutely nothing happens, it just goes away.
Me and another player encountered a bug in this quest tonight...the first two work fine, but the Orc bike just floats through the canyon and there is no way to complete. :\ Anyone have any suggestions?
I have tried abandoning and retaking it a couple of times, dismounting and going through the re-telling and rebooting my computer and WoW to try to solve it. Since I know I'm not alone in having this issue, I am hoping someone out there can help.
I've also submitted a ticket on this issue.
Every time I click on the sun it disappears but doesn't complete my quest... What should I do? (I keep ejecting and restarting it, but the sun never does what it's supposed to do!)
The Day that Deathwing Came: The Real Story
I made i playthrough of this quest if anyone wish to see how to do it :)

The Day that Deathwing Came: The Real Story
This quest is bugged. When you get to the sun part, nothing happens when you click on it.
I was up in Fuselight going to search a cloud and I found out that even though you are gigantic if you accidentally (or purposefully) line up Lucien with a doorway you can go "inside." Well at least your massive feet can. You have to turn yourself around and find the door to free your feet and the rest of you.
Twice (on different characters) I've now experienced to click on the sun and then nothing happened. Then just now I tried clicking the ability to "shrink the world". Then sun appeared again and I clicked it, and I got Deathwing. Problem solved.
EDIT: Hotfixed today or yesterday 11/7/2016
Currently if you do this quest, you will get stuck as a giant should you dismount from the gnome after shrinking the world. Actually quite amusing.
Devs are aware and plan to fix thix next week.
If you do this quest, get to the maximum size and then 'leave the vehicle'. You will remain enlarged and can walk from Badlands to Stormwind, don't mount up though as it will reset your size. Enjoy :)
Use the GNOME's part of the story to explore all of Badlands. This is a safer way to open up the entire map. I usually leave one cloud until last, then explore everywhere, get my exploration achieve then finish it.
