In case you don't have a coordinates mod, keep following the rod south, don't get off the road and go down, the cave is across the bridge and a little further into the "dark" area. Any sneaky class should be able to get the rod easily. just got this only cost me 40 gold and I had the quest as of 23-06-06 very easy.

For this quest you dont really have to bother killing anything. Just run around the elites... I feared the guard outside the imps cave, and bought the rod and then ran :-)

As you go under the bridge, look right and you should see a ramp leading up to the cave where the imp can be found.

The name of the imp is Vi'el (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=16015) and you'll find him at 56,74. I was able to hug the right side as soon as I entered the area and it led me right to him.

Also, I accidentially pulled a large demon, but continued to run to Vi'el. The demon left once I was past the Imp.

Cave is at 58.78 Winterspring...i ran buy 2 lvl 61 elites and a 59 elite...and if you do decide to do this quest.....don't forget to bring 40 gold to buy the darn thing!!!....
I start to think...is this quest really worth the so far spent 120 gold..

I'm kicking myself in the head right now for not having bought it.

Much like anyone doing this quest is kicking themselves in the head for not having bought this when they were in Winterspring no more than an hour ago, just to be sent back again...

Well, for those thinking "Oh, damn, what else they could rob me for?"... here's a comprehensive list of buyable/craftable/other way obtainable goods you can collect ahead of time (and better you will!) to complete this questline in a whole.

The Ectoplasmic Distiller:

Delicate Arcanite Converter (Engineering, Arcanite Bar - Alchemy (For that - a Thorium Bar and an Arcane Crystal you need), Ironweb Spider Silk)
Greater Eternal Essence (4)
Stonescale Oil (10) (Alchemy, Stonescale Eel (10) - Fishing)

Fel Elemental Rod (Purchasable from imp in a cave in Darkwhisper Gorge, south Winterspring... inbetween TONS OF ELITE DEMONS (You've been warned...))

Dark Iron Bar (3) (Mining, Dark Iron Ore (24) smelted at Black Forge in Blackrock Depths)

For all the people that decided to do this long and pricey quest chain will prob kick them self for doing the bloodsail rep realy but i hope i finish this soon on my mage 61 :)

If you are having trouble finding the merchant. Set your mini map tracker to Reagents and Vi'el(name of merchant) will show when you get in the area. You can see his cave right when you walk up to the 2 Hederine Slayer gaurds. It's right at the opening.

He lives inside a cave in the entrance to Darkwhisper Gorge. Sneak in there and try to find him.
