The mine entrance is at 60, 3 in the far Northeast corner of the Barrens. The Enforcers and Overseers are in the mine, but also all around the area outside the mine.

Only had to kill half a dozen of them or so before the emerald dropped.

The reward is some money as well as a 6 slot bag.

The drop rate is terrible. I would suggest not to bother too much with this quest unless you really need it.

I cleaned the entire cave and then cleared everything again on my way out... That's atleast 40 mobs. The item dropped from the last mob I killed. :P

Not a hard quest....could be time consuming....I got the drop after killing about 15 of the enforcers/overseers....in fact, behind the mine after I killed an enforcer.

you people are so funny complaining about low drop rates. I came from Silkroad Online, where many quests would take days to complete. I remember one where the quest item didn't drop until I had killed over 1200 mobs. (also why I like WoW better)

The last two times I've done this quest I have always gotten the Cats Eye Emerald for the Ogre... must be a coincidence!

I don't know if the drop-rate has been changed or I'm just unlucky, but I've now killed more than 30 of those buggers and nothing has dropped yet, except a whole lot of Wool and linen cloth. Good XP though otherwise this quest SUCKS

Simply, if you are a priest at lvl 16, like i am. Do not do this Q.
You will have a big problem when they run away, when they are at 7%
health.

and you will always pull pips and die. i just trashed this Q..

I got extremely lucky. The first mob I killed, an enforcer next to a tower outside, dropped the emerald.

I have found that sack at 52,13. Lucky! Iwas heading to that 60,3 location but near a tree in those coords i´ve found a Venture Co. Overseer or something, killed him and got the quest done.

this quest is waste of time. its easy to die there and runing back from xr is just waste of time it takes few minutes.... better go do other quests....

I paired this quest with Samophlange Manual http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=3924). The mine is a horrible place to go, solo especially, but tightly packed fleeing mobs means you're going to get extra aggro very often. They also respawn pretty fast, from my experience. Boss Copperplug at the end of the mine dropped the Emerald for me.

Do not pick up this quest. The dev who wrote it should be strung up by his berries. Complete waste of time. Better off grinding others in the area. It's crap like this that will make you look elsewhere for your computing entertainment.

Killed around 40 before it dropped for me. Tried going inside the cave, but got swarmed there so stayed outside. Nice and clear for a hunter ;)
For those of you who are having a hard time with this quest, my advice is: keep at it.

If you die near the cave your Spirit will spawn at the Crossroads grave yard, even though on the map the Orgrimmar and Razor Hill grave yards are closer.

This quest takes long enough as it is, the long walk doesn't help.

hard/very hard for a lvl 16 to accomplish, i dont recomend this quest till around 17.

outside the cave theres a large building. inside that building at the first entrance is an overseer. if you pull him 2 enforcers will follow. this got me so im just leaving it as a warning

I'm not sure why this quest is still tagged Horde but I was able to pick up as an Alliance character on 2008-11-14 and complete it while I was going through zones to get my Loremaster achievement.
So, if anyone was wondering, yes, this quest IS available to Alliance as well.

just did this quest i went in from the side right over the entrance to the mine killed a few then came on here to look for clues was going to give up on it then i did not go in the mine i killed a few more outside by the building thats near the mine i pulled one from inside the building and got the emerald from him but i will say this everyones experience is diffrent i did this quest on another character and it took me a long time to get it it is a horrible quest

This was amazingly easy and fast. No need to enter anything. Instead approach the mining area and start taking out the workers. Emerald dropped from a lvl 16 on my 4th kill. The works do not mob you. I was shocked at how easy this was.

You will need to watch for some lvl 40 horde guards on the way up the river but otherwise a piece of cake.

Here is a quick guilde for this quest and part of samophlage q

Rogue:just sneak thro the tunnel,saping enforcers and overseers,at the end kill the bos
do not be too greedy and pickpocket NPCs cause it might not be good if you miss

Warrior:Whenever you fight,use slowing efect (not sure whats its name as i wasn't on mine for quite some time) and rend so they don't run too far oway.

Paladin:U sure u wana do it? I'd quest somewhere else if i was you.

Mage:Chill them or do anythink for them not to run oway;otherwise you are in big trouble
-u might want to use polymorph :)

Hunter:Use ur confusive shoot,it might come as handy as never before
Recomanded pet:Spider

Shaman:Earthbind totem is now your best friend.

Oh sec im bored now...well the point is you must not let them oway,if u really must fight, do it on overseers as they won't run oway.

this quest is like very simple:) since the barrens is one of the biggest maps i try to pair quests a lot... and it was easily paired with

Due to the EXTREMELY low drop rates, I sold off doing the Samophlange a long time ago.
The last 3 times I've done The Miner's Fortune quest, I wasted more than 30 minutes fighting for the ONE item to drop.
I just spent 45 minutes, killed 30 mobs, and STILL don't have the item!

QUEST DROPPED! I will never do a Boulder Lode quest again!

Couldn't get the quest from Wharfmaster Dizzywig or Brak Blusterpipe as a level 10 undead so there's either a pre-req or it's gone now.

Although it says at the top of the page that this quest was marked obsolete by Blizzard, my guildie and I were able to get and complete it today March 17, 2012... (we hadn't looked it up beforehand or we might not have tried,) Just saying :)

Word from the river dock here is that one of the miners in the Venture Company's Boulder Lode mine just northeast of here discovered an emerald the size of your fist.

I know a few buyers who'd be interested in getting their hands on something like that, and I'd be willing to go half and half on its sale. You in?
