Positives Going into BFA:
Our base toolkit has been expanded to include

. So far Tremor has only been useful against fear and sleep effects as most charm effects are full on mind controls which Tremor does not break.

has been shifted in talent tiers allowing a bit more flexibility in play without being punished by missing out on a massive throughput talent.
Shaman still has some of the most powerful raid cooldowns in the game (

) and may continue to see progression spots as long as those cooldowns have a place in overcoming the difficulties of encounters.
Lastly, the removal of the artifact improves talent viability significantly by shifting talents that weren’t affected by any artifact traits into a relatively stronger spot.
Negatives going into BFA:
The removal of Ancestral Guidance as a talent option basically removes most raid viability of taking
승천
as pairing the two abilities together created a very degenerate burst playstyle. There are also some backend changes to
폭우의 토템
that make it no longer able to collect healing from anything except the base spells of a Restoration Shaman and any talents that provide healing. Overall our throughput is significantly lower than any other healer outside of Holy Paladin which bring better damage reduction tools as well as significantly better single target utility.
The pacing of the class has been reduced dramatically with the removal of Queen’s Ascendant being a passive way of reducing casting speed of spells especially with a high amount of critical strike. With haste not having too much of an impact on healing per mana and mana costs being very high on our AoE abilities, it is a less desired secondary stat and the spec will continue to have slow pacing.
Tuning
Currently most of our healing comes from healing over time effects such as

as well as our stacked AoE tools like

. Even after significant buffs to

, these spells are still significantly weaker than most other healers single target healing abilities.

are very competitive with one another while

has low impact in raid encounters but remains strong in small group content.

is significantly weaker than it was in Legion but still continues to be one of the most mana efficient healing spells in our toolkit. Overall, restoration shaman is well behind top throughput healers based on the latest testing on July 27th.

All three options are viable with

This tier primarily revolves around

is a nice quality of life talent that allows some buffering on spells such as

by not requiring you to use them exactly on cooldown and pool charges for a more opportune moment to prevent overhealing.

aids in sustained single target healing with its 10% healing increase to the target it is applied to.

remains a lackluster option due to the positional requirements it imposes to gain the most benefit (having your entire raid stacked in

).
Level 45

will be the pick in this row of talents the majority of the time due to the other talents having no real impact on your performance as a healer.

can be utilized as a damage reduction if you decide to sit in

for a few seconds or just helps you move around by giving you a slight movement speed increase while in

can be useful in content where crowd control is desired.
Level 60
This row remains unchanged from Legion with all three options maintaining a similar power level to the presquish Legion versions.

is nice for providing a health buffer to targets of direct healing spells.

to everyone in a large area as well as acting as an extra battle rez on a 5 minute cooldown (this is a key talent to look at when progression raiding).

remains as a nice counter to area of effect ticking damage or a significant shield on a Brewmaster Tank as their stagger synergizes well with the small absorb shield provided by the totem.
Level 75

is a new talent that provides us with a way of healing up after we receive damage that sets our health below a certain threshold. The way this works is if any hit were to reduce your current health below 35% of you maximum health, you will heal for up to 20% of your maximum health. This heal happens before the damage event. This means that if you are above 80% health and an ability brings you below 35% health, you will not heal for the full 20% health but rather the difference between your current life when you take the hit of damage and full health. This ability can also save you from dying because the heal happens before the damage event brings your health to 0 or below.

is a niche ability that can assist in raid wide mobility if the raid is stacked.

This talent tier saw the most shaking up in the transition from Legion to Battle for Azeroth with the removal of

is a new talent that reduces the cast speed of your next healing spell by 20% after consuming a stack of

buffs you gain from those casts on spells such as

is the artifact ability from Legion (Gift of the Queen) redesigned slightly to have a slightly punishing effect when used improperly.

excels when your raid is stacked and taking heavy raid wide damage. Ideally you always want to effectively heal all 6 targets to get the most healing for mana value out of this spell.

has been gutted. Not just because of the loss of Ancestral Guidance, it replacing

, but also due to some back end changes that targeted spells that are % increases to certain specs throughput. What this means is that anything that isn’t a baseline spell, or talent for Restoration Shamans will NOT feed cloudburst. This hinders the overall potential of
폭우의 토템
and results in this talent generally not being a healing increase. The only upside to this talent is if you can make it to comparable healing to
치유의 토템
and then some by casting spells you would’ve casted during an encounter, it will save you a slight amount of mana. Overall
범람의 치유
is generally a better pick in this row if your raid is spread, and
폭우
for when your raid is stacked.
Level 100

returns as a powerful option in enhancing
연쇄 치유
by over 46% when only considering the value of the extra bounce as well as the bounce falloff reduction it provides. In fights where
연쇄 치유
is one of your main spell casts, take this talent.
샘솟는 물살
returns as a middle of the road option between sustained healing and burst healing. On any raid encounters that you find yourself not casting
연쇄 치유
, look to this talent for a slight boost on AoE burst mechanics that are infrequent. Typically this talent will perform better than
승천
in a
연쇄 치유
-less build.
승천
is only really useful in 5 man content at the moment due to the changes stated prior in this article. The removal of Ancestral Guidance as well as incredible healing multipliers provided by the Tier 21 set bonuses reduce the power of this talent down to being only a 100% healing increase for 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown. It helps that the healing increase is split evenly among nearby injured allies, but is limited heavily by its 20 yard range. While raiding we highly recommend taking either
만조
for sustained healing,
샘솟는 물살
to counter bursts of damage, and lastly only take
승천
when an encounter calls for a large healing increase during a very specific window and almost no healing outside of that window.
