WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-Up
Hello! Welcome to the 112th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
My name is
and I am a content creator focusing on making gold using Professions and
. I have a number of guides over on
and I also stream my adventures on
. If you want to see previous articles, they are all archived
here on wowhead.com
A look into the months ahead..
So, N'Zoth has been defeated. The final patch for Battle for Azeroth has been released and we start to cast our eyes towards the horizon of the next WoW expansion Shadowlands. Most will still be progressing through the 8.3 content for some time, but what then? What happens between now and Shadowlands?
As a gold maker, this is a fantastic time to learn, diversify and work towards our own personal goals. These will be many and varied depending on where an individual is and what they want to do. I thought this would be a good opportunity to look ahead and explore some potential avenues with a particular focus on gold making.
We all love our mains and there's no reason to stop playing them. The further they progress and the better their equipment, the easier they will be able to run through content. Certain dungeons will be soloable, the power shift can really open up opportunities in the late game. There might be certain mats and recipes more easily attainable with your new god-like power...
An example of this can be seen in a post by
u/dubo36 showing how to farm MK2
on a decently geared Engineer
While not on our mains, the draw of having alts and exploring new races, classes and factions can be very appealing. Alts can really help diversify your options. Not only can you expand into into more professions (more on that later), but alts can be used for all sorts of tasks. They can be camped next to a certain rare or specific race/class combinations can be utilized for specialist roles such as dungeon runs.
Other players may well be doing similar for heritage armor etc. so there are opportunities to help with gearing up with uncanny gear, levelling enchants and bags.
Go wide or go deep? Either way, covering all bases with professions is a great way to make gold. The ultimate goal here would be to have every profession for every expansion and as many recipes as possible. This way, you can maximise diversity and be in a very strong position come the next expansion.
has some great guides for levelling up professions for each expansion, you can also use the extensive
profession database on wowhead
. There is another great website at
which has a great visual guide for missing recipes from old professions. Of course the new auction house is great for searching for tradable recipes using the uncollected filter.
Again, as a gold maker we can feed each other by supplying the mats and missing recipes for all the various professions. Look at the guides and see where the bottlenecks are and the materials needed then either flip the existing ones or go farm some yourself.
Hunting Down Achievements
Many will be looking to fill various achievements or hidden quests. The completionist trait is strong in wow players! There are a few that require specific materials such as the
Waist of Time
, so if you are a tailor there are a few things you can sell -
(only the green ones),
There is also
What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been
with various achievements throughput the year such as
coming soon where
delicious chocolate cake
always sells. I'll be bringing my own out of storage from last year, should still be tasty right?
Another great quest is the
Lost Mail quest
which is well worth doing for the
at the end. It's a very handy addition for the brutosaur mount.
Collecting Mounts and Pets
Now is especially the time when many players will be looking to add to their mount and pet collections. Check your professions for any you might be able to craft, even if it's one usable only by that profession.
Then there are lots of specific mount farms from around the world. Have a look at
mount guides on Wowhead
and pick out any you might be able to sell on. Also, you can use the Uncollected filter on the Auction House to see what's selling on your server ..
Spreading to More Servers
Feeling like you have dominated your main server or fancy a change? Moving to another server or starting on others is a fantastic way to diversify and spread your gold making techniques to other markets.
Every server is different and they all have their own niches and opportunities for making gold. We talked about server choices recently back in the
102nd Wowhead blog
Recruit Friends and More Accounts
Another option for established goblins is to take on more accounts for multiple simultaneous options. This is not necessarily full on multi-boxing, but could be simply a second account in the background doing some crafting or sniping auctions.
Having a second account can really help with taking out the waiting time as you flip between accounts.
I hope this has given you some ideas as to possible things to focus on. Whatever you do, have fun. Wow should never be a chore. Make goals and work towards them.
Alternative Methods to getting the Longboi
has some great videos over on YouTube about goldmaking. One recent one was how she made use of raw gold farms to get the necessary gold for her Longboi. It goes to show that there are many methods out there and it's up to you to choose the one that works for you.
Most of this information was discussed and originally posted on the
subreddit or in the accompanying
. You can also catch me streaming live on
on Sunday from around 7PM GMT UK Time (2pm Eastern Time) for the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up live on Wowhead.com, or you can tweet your feedback/thoughts via Twitter at
