great little guide! ^-^
Any preference on what classes you launch for quickest overload? Just curious.
Any range DPS can do it sufficiently. Remember to buff them before hand, and choose people who can survive. If you are going with fewer people up top, they will be taking alot of damage from the defense turrets and need to be able to survive.
Thorim's Hammer beams are the dark blue ones. Also, they don't chase people; they spawn in a cluster of five or six (not sure of the shape, I'm too busy doing my job in the fight to really pay attention there, though it seems to be more or less a zig-zag) and then sequentially fire their lightning charge at the ground based on their spawn order (older beam before newer and so on). They also spawn comparatively infrequently.
In the hard mode section of the fight, you wrote:
Awesome guide. Thanks!I'm sure there are some who read this and think "I knew all that", or "a better strategy is...". However, for someone part of a guild that is just getting into Ulduar, this is some great info. There are lots of guides out there, but few of them are as comprehensive or as well written. For example, Tankspot videos are great for seeing the action and getting a few tips, but they don't get into as much detail about the hard mode mechanics/details, or what abilities are most effective (for example). They are simply designed for a different audience (and are great in their own respective).I'll agree with an above poster about more clearly defining the difference between 10-man and 25-man modes. There is often something that should/could be noted about the difference in fights. For example, for Flame Leviathan fight specifically, the number of people to shoot up on the turrets, and the ability to rotate the launched people is different. Thanks again for the well written and helpful info! I'm eager to see the XT-002 guide come soon :)
@Zavi, I'll take that into account for the next guide (Razorscale, and soon after - Ignis). Originally I had planned a section that dwells deeper into the 10vs25-Player versions of the boss, but somewhere in the process I discarded it, thinking that I can write something generic.@Eluneril, did you mean to ask me if I am going to write guides for bosses outside of Ulduar? I want to. But they are really time-consuming, and it's not the only project I am working on right now. I am really hoping to be done with Ulduar by the time the Argent Coliseum kicks in, so I can move right there. I might right something about the Vault of Archavon, but the bosses there become farmable a week after they are released, so I might leave that for the distant future. I'll just have to see how much I can handle...@locriani, yea...I'll fix that. It was very much like Blizzard's hotfixes - done quickly, and poorly...
Can I get verification of goblin machined piston and the elementium-plated exaust pipe have been looted from this mob?
Yep. Can be "skinned" off of any Ulduar Mechanical boss (FL, XT, Mimiron).
If your doing Flame Leviathan for the first time and want to do it the easiest fastest possible way then this is what my guild does. First we just start the easy mode because if your guild has been farming emblems then the 1-2 extra emblems won't matter much and will save you time to attempt the other bosses. Before you pull the colossuses guarding flame leviathan start shooting down as much pyrite as you can. they'll stay on the ground for a good amount of time and during the fight you want your demolishers to just stack on 10 pyrite at all times. Keep it stacked and don't let it drop unless your getting chased then you have no choice. so all the passengers need to be shooting down pyrite for the demos. the demo passenger needs to focus on pulling in pyrite for the driver. At the beginning of the fight we put one of our range dps that was in a seige engine into the demolisher. We launch him/her up at the very beginning. As soon as he launches the original demolisher passenger gets back into the demo and they start dpsing flame leviathan. if you put a good dps up there he should destroy the turrets in about 30 - 45 sec tops. Once flame leviathan goes into system shutdown we dps the crap out of him. by the end of the overload flame leviathan is down to about 10 - 15% hp and the demos should be able to finish him off soon afterward. with no towers up the fight only last about a min and a half.
I didn't notice any updates to the Chopper driver abilities. Unless they removed it again, last time I did FL the choppers has gained the ability to pick up and relocate Pyrite barrels. That can come in very handy during a fight!
