I completely disagree with flying, not sure why there is people who still want it. It ruins waaaaaay more than it accomplishes, also like one of the devs said no flying actually allows them to make more cool toys and stuff for the open world, while with flying they instantly become nothing special. Also why are you all so asocial? Dont you wanna meet some people in a online game ? Or every1 crying about flying is just a PVE player, farming dailies all day and doesnt wanna get interrupted by the other faction ganks ?
Because people like different things. Flying ruins nothing for me, but not being able to fly ruins a lot for me. And I met more people in BC, Wrath, Cata, which had flying pretty much anywhere relevant, than I did in Vanilla.... and it's not like they can't add cool little hidden places or easter eggs that you NEED flying to find, that can be pretty cool. Ever seen the resort in Feralas? The orphanage in BC Nagrand? But yes, I am primarily a PvE player... however if the only issue was wanting to avoid forced PvP, a PvE server would be an easy solution - but for some of us that's not the problem, the problem is that we simply find flying more fun and enjoyable.
I get the feeling that Alliance players will probably embrace not being able to fly and the fact that it takes the God Mode questing out of the game, but Horde players... man, Frostfire Ridge. I played Frostfire Ridge last and the sudden elevation changes were maddening, it makes you desperate to fly. I have no idea what they were thinking with that zone, there's always a dot on your map for a quest objective that's right in front of your arrow, but not right in front of you because it's above or below you. Quite frustrating when you're grounded.
Lets just hope everything they claim will remain true. I really don't want another Timeless Isle! "Timeless Isle". I wouldn't be surprised if it were named "Time-Lost Isle". >.<
I have no opposition to the no flying policy, however taking from my experience in mop I would say it would be wisest to implement the following, Like in Mop... each area had a questing achievement that had a progression element for each village cluster that you completed... If their intent is to immerse people in the world and have them experience the content, all they need to do is have that zone quest completion achievement tied to flying in that zone... Once you have experienced all the lore and questing that the zone has to experience you are then granted the ability to fly over it in the future as you have already ticked that area off the list of content that you have experienced. so even if you rush 100 you still have to put some effort in to that zone should you wish to fly in it.In The Thunder isle I found myself skipping most of the content as is was just too tiresome to have to fight all the trivial mobs that all are packed right on top of each others agro radius, yet after I had reached max level in MOP and reached the point where I had nothing left to do for the week, so I flew over the zones and looked for things that sparked my attention. I ended up discovering the Wizard of Oz Painting in the Jade Forest and some of the alliance questing areas that were quite intriguing.TL:DR VersionHave per zone quest progression achievements like in MOP and tie them to flying in that zone = I.E. when the content has been experienced you are granted the reward of flying over the zone.
Super informations. Ty guys for this interview. 2 more days .. :)
Interesting interview, I would greatly appreciate no flying, would make the ogre lodestones for the garrisons much more viable.
give us flying.. not right away, maybe not for a month.. but give us something else to look forward to once we have our 8 toons leveled up and we want to get somewhere 3x faster than riding Ashes of Alar all along the ground... I have flying mounts for a reason! There is also a reason I spent 15000 gold on flying... I dont like to waste time mindlessly riding around.I agree, some content needs to be experienced... on the ground... but you can only do so many Jade Forests before you say, screw this, I am moving on.
Very sorry that I could not get on BlizzСon this year. Hopefully that will come next year.
:( i want to go home and play heroes of the storm
I'm so glad that certain things have a 100% drop rate compared with pandaria... which could be all the way down to 1%.No longer will the RNG gods force me into a farm!
I agree for no flying. I would love if we could have "gliding" though... that'd be rad. I think there are Gliders in certain draenor zones though
It is Allways fun to get some backstage knowledge.
