I am going to try tailoring to make some gold in future patch. Still I dont know how to set up expulsom price.
Regarding the tools I use: I like to look at the underminde journal website to see detailed price information, like when is this item normally cheap or when is the highest demand. I know there is an ingame addon, but it has not that much information. I think the buyer's guide bot is a great idea, as it helps to decide what to buy, especially for someone who is not that familiar with gold making.
I've had good luck with flipping in the past. Every time I've needed gold, it's been easy enough to sit at the AH a while and wait for a good deal. I'm not a real deal trade-prince, but getting enough for my Nether Rocket was all I needed at the time, so that's all I bothered with. When something else catches my fancy, I'm confident that I'll be able to afford it eventually with this method.
I don't miss gold missions one bit - they were awful Skinner Box "gameplay". Unfortunately the economy is still screwed up from so many years of that gold firehose, and it may take a looong time to recover.
I started this expansion with Tailoring and im pretty happy with the results so far, playing on high population server.Three weeks ago I started going for Enchanting market and it seems also profitable, not as much as Tailoring but its still short time everyday for nice money.
When I need a lil boost of gold I usually go farm raids and sell what I find on the AH, or craft some tailoring bags.
I've never really worked the auction house much. Most of what I try is flipping. Flipping is pretty hit or miss unless you can maintain significant coverage, which requires time or opportunity. If you can keep coverage of the auction house, eventually some good deal will pop up. If you only check it now and then, it's like playing the lottery. You can luck into something good, but most of the time you won't.
I don't think running the gold missions is any more profitable with such low gold rewards... Not to mention that getting the resources is much slower than in Legion. Still it would be nice to have some way to move them to alts!
I do miss the gold missions a great deal, it meant I could spend time enjoying the game as i wished rather than farming or being cautious as to how i spend my time ingame. Ive never been able to make enough gold to purchase tokens and keep myself afloat with repairs etc. As for goblin inspirations, I need to try using TSM 4, I spent a few hours setting up all sorts of lists but the next day when I logged in they had all vanished which was incredibly disheartening, all I do to churn some gold is AH flipping, I tend to stick with the items im familiar with so I know what they are worth and when to walk away, but I would like to be able to craft and sell, I should probably spend time on my alts to get these professions that seem to be doing well. I dont find enchanting and selling enchants is profitable when the mats are more expensive then the enchant will sell for.
Hearing about how much gold could be made from missions previously has me all envious, sounds like it was a really pleasant way to make some gold. I really don't like to grind, so I only make a bit more than is needed for a token by selling mats.
I've just certainly noticed that profession profits have really tightened up, to the point that there are few that have the profit margins that they used to. It's quite unfortunate.
Good for me I didn't farm only gold from my army of alts back in Legion. There were too many stuff from the mission tables to be farmed. Gold was one of them, for sure, but Battle pet charms (when you could buy lots of the the stuff now in BfA cost another kind of charms), BoA tokens, for the paragon farming (I farmed exalted on pretty much ALL my 12 classes I had for the farming, now only 1-4 characters are missing Argussian Reach exalted, but are all at high Revered, so just a matter of farming a bit more of those and send them to the alts without exalted).Another thing I'm not seeing people talking about, the PvP WQ's that gave Marks of Honor in Legion, even if I wasnt (still not) inclined to do PvP in the game. I farmed the Marks at least on those 6 classes that had that item with which they could instantly complete most WQ, these PvP ones included. I ended farming hundreds of Marks (even from other servers) and sent all to one character then 12 to each main class so they could buy the season's pvp transmog at dalaran, and the rest... I ended up with around 400-600 Marks when Bfa came out, so those rank 2 and 3 recipes weren't an issue to buy, to ALL professions. I just marked what toons would be mains at a determinate profession as one can't have all, and sent the marks for them to buy the recipes. Most people were short sighted, IMO, during Legion, thinking that the gold missions were the only 'profit' or 'worth' missions to be done hehe.
Tailoring is probably my #1 gold revenue source in BfA, although to be fair not because of BfA items. I'm crafting a lot of transmog from legacy expansions and sell them with a big profit margin.
transmo farming+ luck+ tsm=$
The most profitable for me is flipping old things, but i focus on that only 'cause i find crafting too boring and hard to calculate real cost. But to be honest, i would rather farm if it was more rewarding, 'cause it's a no brain and i find it kind of relaxing, farming plants, ore, and stuff !
I miss the high yield gold missions, it actually made it easier on me to sustain my subscription and then move characters when I transfered to a heroic/mythic raiding guild, then again to a friends guild (two seperate servers). If they made all 50 characters available on one realm, I think it may make people more inclined to play. Hopefully they do it and perhaps do a one time deal of letting us move our toons to our realm of choosing to consolidate. The tailoring thing is interesting to me, always looking for more ways to make gold. Good read.
I only use undermine journal and Lazy golmakers spreadsheet.
Do you miss running missions at-scale for gold-making? If it were possible to generate gold consistently through missions but requiring 10, 20 or 50 characters, would you do it?Don't miss it but I would definitely do it. It is very few effort (can be done even from smartphone) for a lot of profit.Which strategy is most profitable for you? Do you combine all three equally or focus on one method more than others? Do you prefer a different gold-making strategy like farming?Flipping has been working great for me this expansion so far. Only other source of golds farming along with herbalism while waiting for RBG queues :D
For me most profitable has been selling pets on diff realm, would be very nice if TSM tooltips could show price info for different realms, so you don't have to look up every single pet in TUJ or Magpie's webpage.
