I don't think we can call it a "murder", if Wild gods know how Ardenwald works, they know that their anima can be used to rez someone else. I don't see Urscoc saying "I don't care if I die, I will be reborn soon"! During their life, Wild gods protect Nature and when they die for it, the anima of all forms of life is used tu resurected theim, so they can continue their watch. And Anima isn't just use to rez but also to maintain Ardenwald alive. If Ardenwald disapear they will be no more resurection of nature's spirits, Ara'lon doesnt steal the anima for himself.
What exactly do you all think the anima that Ara'lon was feeding to Ursoc was? Anima is people. It's pretty much Soylent Green. All of Ardenweald is essentially an engine that takes up souls that worship nature and grinds them to food for the few "Ancients" to be able to stay alive forever. Heck in the Kyrian Covenant campaign, in order to craft a Seed Vessel for the Crest of Ascension (the same Seeds Ursoc and other Ancients stay in), we have to sacrifice one of the Night Fae to serve as the seed.Everyone in Ardenweald is expendable as well as most of the souls that end there. People are complaining that Ursoc doesn't get to live; who knows how many elven and tauren etc. souls they'd have had to feed him until he was ready to get reincarnated so he could get corrupted like a chump yet again. Imagine how many souls were needed just to tend to Malorne who is the strongest of the lot . . .
Ardenweald is the worst covenant, they just murdered a wild god for their selfish needs, the Winter Queen is no better than the Jailer. Don't give me the whole they are part of the cycle bs, Ursoc is a guardian of nature why would he have to be sacrificed, none of this makes sense. Between this and Bastion with it's Xe'ra zealotry, I guess Maldraxxus and Revendreth are the convenants that actually have morals.
Should've saved the Uther/Arthas one for last. The rest have been garbage in comparison.
Fantastically written article. A+
No-one in that big group of people doing their job are going to call out Ara'lon for dismembering a guy at 3:05?"I understand you're upset Bro but you've just cut off Dave's leg..."
I can't wait to play Ardenweald on my Forsaken survival hunter! And I will wear my Sylvanas tabard proudly, as I place the Forsaken banner by the roots of the dying tree! For My Queen, SYLVANAS! (Ah.. and I guess the Winter Queen will be my new Queen if Sylvanas will be gone, beggars can't be choosers!)
Does Ursoc regrow into a tree or something? I need to know!
thank you for the cinematics, now I know what is my the most hated covenant and I hope the "queen" and her simp burn in the future. can anyone get in touch with Sylv? I think she is kinda good and that
Awesome, detailed article, thanks a lot, Perculia and Wowhead team! I really appreciate that you put so much work in discussing lore topics recently, in addition to your extensive datamining / database / gameplay news you offer. <3Concerning Ardenweald, I get the impression that many people have not quite understood the purpose of this particular realm of death, perceiving what happens in the cinematic as "murder" and "selfishness".I have not played through the Ardenweald quest content on beta myself, but I hope it will clear up these misconceptions for everyone. Can't wait to see how it all plays out.
Why are people being so critical about the Night Fae and just want to be haters and considering that LITERALLY all of the covenants are having dark sides revealed to all of them and that the Venthyr, Kyrian, and Necrolord Covenants are all being attacked from within their own ranks, while the Night Fae is the only covenant that is being attacked by the Drust from Thros which is outside of Ardenweald means that every being in the Night Fae are actually morally good. They don't want to get rid of any of the Wildseeds but the Jailer's actions have caused them to choose which survive and which die. And all in all would the Wild gods choose to survive themselves or sacrifice themselves for the greater good and for better understanding will they allow the cycle of death and rebirth and life to end or make sure that it will be able to continue. And big reminder isn't Hakkar the Soulflayer killed in the dungeon The Other Side and yet Bwonsamdi himself states that Hakkar will return one day.
Perhaps the cycle of death was broken when Sylvanas burnt Teldrassil. My theory is all of the world trees on Azeroth are connected to that 1 big tree in the Shadowlands. Think about it. The world trees come from G'Hanir, the Mother Tree, which was the FIRST THING created by in the Emerald Dream which connected the dream and physical world. Wild Gods and other spirits would be sent to the Emerald Dream when they died because of this tree. After Sylvanas burned Teldrassil, she effectively destroyed the last world tree and in doing so severed the connection to the Emerald Dream, effectively breaking the cycle of death.
who's cutting onions damn it
This is the most grounded cinematic the one who I can relate the most to.Having to put down our family dog. Sick and in pain yet struggle to keep himself alive I had to put him down. This cinematic hurt the most of all the cinematic thus far.I do hope it is a way to revive Ursoc in one way or the other, hope his brother Ursol feel the same of his sacrifice.
