I just made 90k on a BoE shield. That will probably be it lol
I rushed faction rep with Undying Army, and was apparently the only person on my server that knew there was a 151 cloak recipe for tailoring there. I scored just over 1.6 million gold with a 40k investment in less than 24 hours, and that multiplied further over time. I may have killed the market for cloth though.... May not be gold cap, but for a random dude using no guides and having no free time, I did good! ha
For the first time I decided to go HAM on the farming. I've gotten at least 1 BoE a day, and got 2 on Thursday. I've made over 1 mil just on the BoEs and raw mats farm alone. I am so excited. I've never made this much before. It helps that I love mindless farming.
Seems like farming mats is still a dud with these lockdowns continuing and restarting and people having more time to farm mats themselves...#RIP
Spare a thought for those of us on Draenor-EU and Kazzak-EU who have only just been able to play their first full day and are so far behind that we've missed out on all the crazy gold going around.

If there is someone who buys 'em, there'll be those who will sell. But I think most people, at least those that don't care too much for world/realm Firsts, shouldn't be too concerned about gearing right now. The Torghast 171 cloak is a good example, even outleveling the Legendary cloak (and making engineers rejoice to using again their cloak tinker instead of the consumable, who they should sell now in the AH for the rest :O ).1. Consumables is still one of the best market, and, for example people that didn't level yet, but has the professions and craft, can still make some profits. We'll stick to the ground for a bit more still, so the Gliders are good (are not level capped, at least yet, hope never), glyphs, bags (the new 32-slot one is cheaper to make than BfA one, make them at least first for your mains and alts), etc.2. There's one thing though: The Chest from Callings drops Poor quality items that sell for a lot of gold, 20-600g, each. It seems as though there isn't a clear 'gold-directed' 'Emissary-like' missions in SL, these are a great way to farm raw gold at least.3. Also, I'd strongly advice people to level thru the quests. The full leveling thru the main Campaign nets each character ~15k of gold, from quest turn ins, items you drop from them, etc. Dunno about the Threads of Fate, but leveling thru the more 'conventional' way is still better, even faster, if you don't stop to 'read' anything, at least on alts.
My younger brother and I have both been playing WoW for the same amount of time (around 4 years). I've always had more gold than him because I slowly built it up over time and didn't spend it on stuff often. He usually hovered around 10k across all his characters. In shadowlands though, he took advantage of the new economy and new resources and, as he was leveling, made 100k gold off of auctioning everything he could. Cloth, ores, herbs, skins, foodstuffs, BoE gear, and whatever else he could.
I never get BoE drops (or mount drops, or anything rare, but I'm not salty at all...), but I made around 200kg in the first few days just dumping my old stock of legion cooking mats into Bear Tartare the hour SL launched, plus selling leather as I skinned it. The first few hours desolate leather was going for 500g+ each, so having a Brutosaur was pretty awesome to take advantage of the tryhards. The trade skill mat markets are all stabilizing now, mats are cheap and crafted items are worthless, so I expect I've made all the profit my LW/Skinning is going to make this expansion.
