Dude, I told you. Roll Ally and come play with me. <3
When I first started playing I played a Dwarf cause all of my friends played Alliance also. Then I realized that all of my friends never made it past level 20. This caused me to change over to Horde and start playing what I wanted to play. Haven't looked back since... except those "space aliens" do look pretty cool and fun to play.
When I first started, I didn't have any friends who played, I was just looking for a fun game. Never did find the alliance that interesting, as my race choices were (as a female uninterested in playing a male character) between boring humans, ugly dwarves, barbie-doll night elves, and cute gnomes (with limited class choices). So I made a troll, and in a year and a half I had four 60s, one of each horde race. My highest level alliance character was, I think, level 14.When BC came out, I found myself more than a little bored with the Horde, and I thought draenei females looked absolutely beautiful, and I love the lore they built up around them too. A year later, and I've explored all of the alliance-side quests. I have three draenei female 70s and have raided up to T6 content as alliance. After playing both sides, I can honestly say that the people are no different. There are immature little kids on both sides, as well as intelligent mature people. Blizzard just wants you to dislike the other faction to foster a sense of competition. The lore, however, keeps me on Alliance side (and draenei women). Though I did explore the Mag'har quest chain later on with one of my Horde characters, and I do think it's the most epic quest chain I've ever seen.
Blizzard are just making up for the lack of attention they paid to the Alliance in early WoW, or thats the way it looks to me...Horde still get it easy IMO, I mean, look at level 39 caster weapons for example... Alliance get... nothing that Horde don't get. Horde get.... THE best Staff at that level without paying a small fortune for a Staff of Jordan; http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4134Horde get a great weapon and cloak for 19; http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9167 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22990What do Alliance get..? Tunic of Westfall (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2041). Both the Weapon and Cloak were Post-BC, so you can't really compare the 2. What do the Draenei space-freaks get that SHOULD be the equivalent of the above... NOTHING. Horde... unique history, unique architecture, great models, awesome quests, the Orcs aren't just copy + paste from Tolkien or D&D, the Undead aren't just mindless zombies, the trolls aren't the lumbering abominations that are depicted in D&D games, the Blood Elves aren't what you'd really expect.Alliance... err... yay! We get strange space freaks with tentacles on their faces, Humans who look so ugly I wish I had never rolled one, dwarves who are just... dwarves, freaky little gnomes who are always happy and wierd Purple elves... I always wish I had stuck with my first character, an Undead Warlock.EDIT: Stupid spelling errors ><
This subject gives me a topic for the next wish entry I'll enter in the Khristmas contest - I don't mind if others use it too, because hey its Khristmas, so I'll share it here. How awesome would it be if Blizzard implemented a series of difficult and grueling quests that allowed your character to go traitor? Imagine the amount of proving yourself trustworthy to all the varied individual factions of the larger opposite faction would be! And how much fun would it be to change sides? Have a Horde mage purge knowledge of the common tongue from you and change you so you can't understand it anymore, and now speak Orcish... Be a blood elf that would be killed on sight entering Silvermoon... defect all together! I would love to be a human fighting alongside orcs and trolls, or Tauren I could safely AFK on in Stormwind! I'm sure it'd be asking a lot, but... so much of our modern literature has to do with the marriage of opposites (not to mention how the Alliance and Horde have been forced into cooperation by the Burning Legion and the Scourge) that it'd be right in there with the spirit of the game. Malgayne, imagine jumping ship and defecting, and having all of your Horde friends opposite you on the battleground, thirsting for your blood for betraying them... having a lot of new Alliance allies who only barely trust you, worried you may yet still be a Horde spy... I don't know, I think the opportunity for Blizzard to create some ridiculously epic endgame content without having to come up with new zones and playable character types is right there.
I have both Alliance and Horde characters, and - content-wise - it definitely seems as if Blizzard gave quite a bit more thought to the Horde side of the game, but it does look like blizzard is trying to fix some of these imbalances.I do have to agree that the Tethyr quest is quite possibly the best classic quest though (and Theramore as a whole is an interesting questing area for alliance). Unfortunately, I had always skipped Theramore quests until about a year ago leveling a gnome warrior.
Was a tabletop RPG nerd. Still am a tabletop RPG nerd. My biggest problem is a lack of sundays. That's the only day my friends and I can get together regardless what game we're playing. But during Christmas? Game on!Rolled a Horde character (Troll hunter) because my friends were Horde. He's not interested in the entire Horde-Alliance cold war faeces. He's just a troll trying to get by in this insane World of Warcraft. I have several alliance characters, but I only play one. With my Blood Elf and Tauren alts and my Banker Orc I simply don't have the time to play the others. Probably will one day.I have a DK, but don't like the storyline much. To me they seemed like the stereotypical inner twelve years old's wet dream of an overpowered uber-warrior (YMMV). My inner twelve year old apparently didn't need to be let out. My DK is a female Tauren who is $%^&ed off the other races steal the bovine-races milk. Her battle cry is 'Got milk? Got Milk! Got your milk right here!' She especially enjoys killing females as she thinks of them as milkmaids. Yes, she is quite, quite mad.
I wanted to start on Horde (i had already done the human racist empire thing in SWG playing the Empire) but ended up starting Alliance because of friends and enver turned back. The time investment to start a new character on a new server without gold/friends/... is too high for me (especially since i aim for end-game raiding as a main activity).Doing a DK (not sure if it would work on another server) is not an option either, as it would make me bypass to much content and quests for there to be a point in switching sides. So i end up reading up a bit on horde lore and quest chains but that's about it, and without any real regrets because alliance side is fun too.
I prefer Horde, I suppose. I have characters across the servers that are of both factions, but the ones that get the most play are my horde paladin and DK. So yeah, I guess I prefer the Horde - if only because I don't want to go and level up allll over again on another toon (which makes 3.0.8 awesome for me, I can finally roll a DK on my Alliance server).
I went Horde just because Tauren are badass as anything, imo. =P
I'm what most people would call an altoholic, I can't stay with one character. I originally was alliance 'cause my friends were. But I never made it to 60 in Vanilla. I never made it to 70 in BC. Right now I have a 72 alliance paladin. I rerolled as a tauren druid last week, and I haven't looked back. Sure the barrens sucks and I die to stupid raptors and centaurs, but I really like actually having quests for Wailing Caverns and Ragefire Chasm is mad fun. Stormwind Stockades is nothing in comparison.
