As you receive this quest in Feralas, this does count toward the Feralas quest achievement, even though you have to travel to Booty Bay for the quest hand in.
This was my last quest for this zone.

For those trying to hunt down:

OOX-09/HL 조난 탐지기 from The Hinterlands (Personal stats: Killed some stalkers, some trolls, some owlbeasts (about 20 all told)... Then killed my first ooze at Skulk Rock, and it dropped)
OOX-17/TN 조난 탐지기 from Tanaris (Personal stats: Went into Zul'Farrak like all other posters recommend, killed some twenty or thirty trolls and scarabs, and it dropped from one of the troll corpses)
OOX-22/FE 조난 탐지기 from Feralas (Personal stats: As recommended by many other posters, Feral Scar Yetis - dropped on my first kill)

Yes these still drop in Mists of Pandaria.
Yes it can drop off ANY mob in the respective zone, however OOX-22/FE 조난 탐지기 has the highest drop rate from 거친흉터 설인 IF you haven't already done the quest.
It WILL eventually drop - some days RNG is your best friend, other days you want to repeatedly punch a kitten (or other obscenely fluffy creature) just to illustrate how cruel the universe can be.
The command to check if you have completed ANY of the distress beacon quests is here (special thanks to MrsSushi for locating the updated version of this as of 5.0.3):

You will see lines of dialogue that look like this:

After completing all three escorts, you can then acquire the quest 선물로 받은 OOX and get your 기계닭.

You cannot turn in this quest while Hated in Booty Bay

I did this quest and got the complete but unfortunately I was lazy and abandoned it since I didn't feel like traveling all the way to booty bay to turn in. Later I find out that I can get a pet if I do all three, since I did the Tanaris and Hinterlands OOX quests, I wanted to complete Rescue OOX-22/FE again but I can't find another distress beacon and the chicken doesn't have a quest to give anymore. Can someone please help me out here?

This does not count for Feralas. RP walked from camp mojache to Booty bay and did not get contribution to the achievement. THIS IS NOT A FERALAS QUEST.

It's good to do this in conjunction with 최고의 품질, or the Alliance equivalent of the same name, as the yetis dropping the quest items need to be killed during the escort.

These still drops in BfA 8.2, don't know which one exactly is the rarest or if there is a difference to begin with but OOX-22/FE actually dropped to me on my 1st kill in Feralas(it was one of the Yettis), the OOX-17/TN dropped after a few kills inside Zul Farrak and I haven't searched for the one that drops in Hinterlands so I don't know yet.
These drop individually and do not require any quest chain specifically as far as am aware, the item rewards such as "Chain Link Towel" were not given in the quest though so am not sure if these were deleted from the game or who knows

Edit: Just realized that completing the quest still gives you the Transmog of the "Chain Link Towel"
