Enter the cave at 43.0, 82.0 and bear right at the fork. For some reason it took me forever to figure that out.

If you abandon the quest and get it back from the NPC you have to get into the cave yourself. I was initially dragged there per the original quest but, for some reason, I fell off the bridge to Avalanche. I didn't die and ran back out to the NPC (it's easy, everyone is engaged in fighting). I checked NPC first to see if I could get dragged back. No go. Then I abandoned quest and re-acquired. No dragging. Off I go now, on my own, to defeat Avalanche. So, BE CAREFUL AND DON'T FALL OFF THE BRIDGE TO AVALANCHE! Or have to abandon the quest in any way.

The cave is similar to the same that the fungalmancer quests take place in. Once you enter the cave if you follow the right hand side, eventually you will come up to the top where you can engage Avalanchion.

You can get dragged into the cave, but apparently you need to walk out again manually.. Most of the mobs are busy fighting eachother though, but beware of AoE putting you in combat

For some reason there are two entries on wowhead for this quest. The other one is here with more informative comments.
To get to the quest objective just speak with the quest giver one more time after accepting the quest and he will send you to the objective. Once you kill Avalanchion just jump down into the waters below and walk out of the cave (There are three ways to go from the waters below. Two of them will take you back to Avalanchion!). Don't worry about the packs, they might agro you as you pass by them but they won't follow you. You may have to fight a few of cultists that are alone. Once out of the cave if you are still in combat just wait a few and they should drop their agro. Then mount up and fly back to the quest giver.

/way 43.4, 82.1 Cave ENTR (look SSE)

After entering the cave, keep to the right until you get to Avalanchion's "six o'clock"
/way 47.2, 90.8 looking NNE to Av's BACK

OFC, if he has been killed and not yet respawned, this vantage could be EASY to miss!

OBTW, I tried to write these waypoints including "Deepholm" as the zone, but could not find an accepatable syntax for Deepholm in The Maelstrom. If anyone could help me on that, I would greatly appreciate it!
