Seems to be bugged.. bubbles go away when you approach them..
i just can't move at all to even get close to an orb not even blinking close to one
Dismount before trying this challenge. If you don't dismount you'll either get no wings or will be slower than needed for the quest and achievement.
i made i playthrough of this quest if anyone wish to see how to do it :)
What a &*!@ quest got bugged fell on a branch had to rez sickness
This is actually a fairly easy test if you plan ahead.
Make SURE you have at least one goblin glider handy (two is better) in case you don't get wings. Trust me, it can happen
Dismounted. She will launch you into the air on your mount and will will not have wings. Without a kite you'll certainly croak and the runback's a bugger.
Accept the quest, accept the blessing and you will be launched into the air. You will not get wings until you start to fall so don't panic and pop the glider to early.
Point your camera straight down.
Make SMALL rapid adjustments to fall down through the center of the globes. If your movements are too big and sweeping you'll end up passing over and then passing under, a clean miss.
There are at least eight globes so if you miss one or two you'll still satisfy the quest.
As of my running . . . if you don't get all the globes the first time through ABANDON the quest and get it again or you will have no wings the next time she launches you and you will crash and burn. Thus the hint about the goblin kite.
If you DO crash and burn, there is a path over the mountain. With your back to Aviana's perch, turn right and run across the water until you see the path. As you go up the mountain the trail will fork. Take the right path. From this point dead reckoning will get you there.
If you fail to get all six globes and you want to try again, head away from Aviana's perch to the next zone south. The flight path is about 15 seconds inside the border. Stay on the straight path, go left when you hit the T.
Did it first try by aiming my camera right down then doing rapid movements to correct and try to hit the globes, trying to do it any other way is probably not worth it.
If you get all 10 in one go, you get the
achievement and the
There is a issue where the wings appear too late for you to get all 10 globes.
You just need to repeat the attempts until it works correctly but I suggest you make Riverbend (Sylvanas Falls) your HS location beforehand for easy second try :)
So I did this and got all 10, got the achievement but I didn't get the toy?
I did it on my second attempt after I'd alrdy completed the quest.
I've wasted a LOT of time trying to figure out how to get back up to Aviana. Can anyone help?
Let me just say that this quest is an obvious setup from some lonely virgin developer at Blizzard -- no one dismounts when there is a run to catch the quest line... then falling into an abyss that requires you to run the entire way around high mountain because you res in a completely different region...
... and you wonder why so many people quit playing WoW after the first few weeks of an expansion. I'm fine dying; I am NOT okay with this kind of time sink BS so someone working in a dark hole can get a few chuckles and feel like they have a purpose in life.
Spotted the ! while questing, came back at 110, but can't click either the speech options but can accept the quest. I've seen a few people run up to her and just BAM get launched, looks hella fun. Tried reloading/relogging but still unable to talk to her. Abandoning and requiring the quest also doesn't work. Anyone else had this problem?
If you are a Mage a quick way to get back to her is be teleporting back to the class hall and taking the Highmountain Portal (Assuming you picked the Teleportation Nexus)
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but this extremely easy if you use your mouse. If you're a keyboard turner, you're going to have a rough time of it. Hold down your right mouse button and move the mouse up to point the camera down, and then left and right to turn. With the mouse, you can turn as fast as you move your mouse, so if you go past it, you can turn around instantly to correct yourself. Just keep spiraling around in tight circles until you descend to the right level.
I got the achievement for ten on the third try this way, and only because the first time I was mounted and didn't get wings, and the second time I didn't know what to expect and missed the first one. Not because I'm good, but because it really is that easy.
If you miss the first orb (I had it happen twice where I was launched and ended up starting to glide already below the first orb, no way to get it) just turn around immediately and glide back down to the quest giver, Aviana. Wings will disappear shortly after you land, and you can try again.
So I got the achievement but I can't seem to find the toy anywhere?
Is this redo-able for the achievement/title? Or do you have to do it on a second toon if you don't get it on one?
"Sounds interesting" i thought upon taking this quest.
Got lauched on the mount, fell down and died.
"Okay maybe i should dismount" i thought, got lauched and died.
Went to check comments on wowhead.
"Oh, im supposed to get wings, noice" fell down and died.
"Screw you quest" enchanted cloak, lauched, got wings, got achievement.
What a nice freaking quest, blizzard
You can talk to Aviana to do it again for the achievement, even after you've completed the quest.
When I go to the location on the quest map there are no npcs or anything. Haven't been able to do this quest for a while.
If you fall to your death, there's a flight path nearby so you don't have to corpse run all the way up the mountain.
Initially I wasn't being launched high enough in order to reach the first globe. I realized that if you position your character as close to the ledge as possible, while still being in range to be able to talk to Aviana, that you will be launched high enough to reach the first globe.
easy guide for flying and achievement
Clearly this quest exist to troll us by Blizzard.
>The area is mountable, so chances are you will start this quest while mounted the first time, and only the first time.
>You land in an area that your ghost can't get to, so you have to resurrect at the graveyard.
>Now with your new found res sickness, you must fight these three bears that naturally spawn on top of the graveyard.
The bear part was just cruel.
If you did not get the reward, check your mailbox. Got mine this way today.
My friend told me to take a crack at this quest. It didn't seem too interesting, but he kept egging me on. I didn't really know what to do the first time and I had to wing it. It was a pretty terrible attempt, nothing to crow about. The second time, I was mounted and the quilled by the fall damage. What the flock? In the end, my friend decided to pigeon with his advice and I got it down. I was really eagler to use it in conjunction with the Brulfist Idol, but it got nerfed. I guess Blizzard thought it was too over-powlered and didn't want to beak the game.
It's nice that you land where you can't retrieve your body. Oh well, you can just take res sickness at the graveyard... Nice that Blizzard put 2 bears there to make sure you die again immediately with sickness..
What a stupidly broken quest.
Half the time you will get launched and drop below the first orb before the wings pop.
The other 45% of the time the wings will pop at the right time, but the orbs wont show until you are below them.
The other 5% you are probably mounted when starting it.
no idea why everyone is complaining. Got it first time, quest not bugged at all
Pretty important note. If you complete the quest but fail to get the achievement, when you try again you will not get the on screen flashes notifying you if you got an orb. Look at your character where your buffs display and you will see a new one that counts the orbs collected.
I was about to write a ticket that I could not do this a second time until I noticed the buffs. So all is fine!
"Do you wish to soar amongst the clouds as my children do?
<Aviana chuckles - a clicking, crow-like noise.>"
You know it's one thing that this stupid quest launched me into the air, and then dropped me, as if it was a part of the quest, to my doom below and then placed my body in a place where I can't reach after I die.
It's another to have bears and mobs around the graveyard where I am forced to do a resurrection sickness. What an absolute waste of my time. This is my most hated quest of all time right now.
If you don't get all globes on your first fall, travel south to Starsong Refuge to get the flight path back up to Sylvan Falls and try the jump again. You don't need to run back up the mountain and get lost, and try and use the map, duck into some bushes and fall off a 10,000 foot cliff to somewhere you'll never be able to get back to.
As of 10/30/16, when I attempt this, I fall for a LONG time before the wings pop, so I'm already below 4 of the orbs.
Aviana: "Those who harm my children will pay.."
You know, being responsible for the murder of practically millions of her "children," I'm not all that sure I want to trust in her "blessing" on this quest :/
If you don't get a quest completion pop up then you can complete by opening the quest interface and clicking the 'complete quest' button at the bottom of the description.
Why is this quest here? I can't see how is it connected to other quests, there is no link either to Val'sharah story, or to Highmountain story...
I chanced upon this quest. Got 3 balloons, then landed in a circular structure with no NPC's around and could never find the original spot again. My Mini map shows a location that has nothing to do with the quest. After several attempts to get back to the quest I finally abandoned it.
I've noticed several map bugs so far in Legion where the map shows a location for something and there's nothing there at all. And BTW, I'm not currently using any addons.
wings appear when you are below the first globe
making impossible to get the ten, when you talk to Aviana to start the challenge, just dont move the camera and the wings will appear immeadiately when you start to fall. Did it on the first try after figuring this out.
The lots of fails I got before for having my wings too late, instead of trying yo get 9 (useless), just turn around quick to land where Aviana is so you save lots of time and try again.
Hope this helps anyone.
Edit: bolding the text so people with this same problem might find the post quickly.
If you don't already have the FP from Starsong Refuge in Val'Sharah, take advantage of the flight buff and float southwest down the river to pick it up.
Also don't fiddle with your DH glide while doing this quest, weird stuff happens.
Seems messed up in 7.2. I pretty much always gets 10/10 when doing this on alts. Today I got 2/10! The hitbox of the globes seem to be much smaller.
Update: While there's been a lot of hotfixes to quests and spell effects, this quest remains bugged still.
Ugh, 7.2 has ALOT ALOTTTTT of bugs everywhere! This Quest is kinda bugged. Even you ACTUALLY touch orb but it did NOT counting. You'd get 2-3 touch thats it. I completed this quest after 2 times attempt. I touched all orbs but half of them were not counting. Hopefully blizzard will fix this and MANY OTHERS!
Can't tell you how many globes I flew through (right through the middle) and didn't receive credit for... very frustrating quest.
I am a hunter. After several tries for this achievement, just for kicks I thought I would see what
would do. It put me in walking mode and I was able to hit the globes a lot easier. I got this achievement tonight.
I don't get it. You get shot up in the air and have no control. When you get your wings you get control back but the first bubble is above the point where wings appear, and you can't go up.So the first bubble is untouchable? But you have to hit all the bubbles to get the toy? I don't get it.
Don't think the guy below me was looking around well enough. There are more than enough bubbles to hit on the way down but you have to circle around and look for them. You cannot, however, just skim over the top of them to get credit and you don't really have any control over altitude, just direction, as you steadily fall in altitude, so you will need to circle bubbles so that you can go through the middle of them at the right time. I think I missed a couple on the way down and still got my six on the first try.
Doing this Achievement
you can collect Toy
and in same time you can do quest

Have fun :)
Appears to be broken in 8.1.5 - you don't get any wings (and, yes, I wasn't mounted). Tried 3 times just in case I was doing something wrong.
