The Mosshoof Coursers who drop these, are in the northern and southern region of Azshara. Basically just run north from where Ogtinc gives you the quest.

Took me about an hour to get the two (lvl 51). Very helpful to bring a friend as the mobs in this zone are very close together!

For this and the Wave Trasher quest after, go for the higher level mobs. In the case of these, the coursers, focus exclusively on the level 53 coursers. The levels of the coursers are not evenly dispersed. The stretch extending northwest from the blue dragons contains primarily level 52 coursers. You find more concentrated level 53 coursers by heading east or northeast, but watch out for the giants. It will still take a long time, but more like 30 minutes instead of two hours.

The antlers are indeed a very low drop rate but there are about 3 different places to find them. So if you are having problems with the drop rate I suggest moving to a different place and starting to look there. Also don't let the drop rate discourage you from the quest becuase the trinket you can get is an amazing help for any hunter. I am talking about the devilsaur eye. I still use it on my 60 hunter. It helps and after the antlers isn't to hard to get.

I've seen widely differing opinions about this quest. And for my self and the 1 hunter I helped, a big difference in how it played out. I killed nearly 100 mosshoof coursers to get the 2 perfect antlers, lucky for me I skin. 2 days later I helped a friend and he got 2 with 8 kills. So just be patient and make sure you're killing the right coursers, there are others coursers besides the mosshoof in the area.

Really lond quest.
5% drop rate i wouldn't do it in any other case if it wasn't for the Hunter's quest.

The overall Quests rewards are the best for hunters.

Pack some petiance and cofee.

62,18 was right on. Not that there WEREN'T hippogryphs around, but there pretty good numbers of Mosshoofs. I got my first set of Perfects off a 52 in about the 7th or 8th kill. The second set took another 20-30 kills! But again off a 52. I was killing nothing but 52's and 53's for them. I submitted a screenie of the Mosshoof. Enjoy.

Whoever finishes this in less than 10 minutes consider yourself VERY lucky. For everyone else don't expect this quest to be easy because it's not. I have killed 50+ Mosshoof Coursers and have only received ONE perfect antler. Been going at it for almost an hour now. 20K Experience from this crap....
Really horrible quest.

EDIT: Just finished. 76 Mosshoof Coursers, 30x Experience, 1 Hour and 40 Minutes Later.

This quest took me about half an hour, killed about 10 coursers and got my first antler, and then weaved in and out of the hippogryphs and about 10 more kills later I got the second antler.

This quest isn't bad if you're a skinner =)

well i tell u this i was with a friend doing this quest and we killed like 30 and none of them dropped the antlers but as soon as my friend left igot 1 and then killed like 10 more to get the other so best bet is to go solo

Here's what needs to be done to increase your odds of getting the drops. First, read the quest. Yeah, I know you did the first time but read it again. See the part where he says that the antlers are damaged when the courser battles? This means you need to use your Hunter skills to keep the courser from attacking.

Use your traps and stuns to keep the courser moving as slow as possible. Turn off growl on your pet so he doesn't steal the aggro. Start off by marking the courser, hitting it with Serpent Sting then immediately Concussive Shot it. Lay down a Frost Trap and ensure it runs through it. Keep turning around (running forward is faster than backward!) to run, then turn back to shoot and run. Lay more traps and use Concussive Shots when you get the chance.

I farmed these guys for about an hour with no drops before I re-read the quest and noticed that tid-bit. Doing my suggestion above provided me with two drops. One on each try.

Coincidence? I think not.

O my god i've been at this for 2 hours now have killed at least 100 of these things and still only 1 perfect antler. Drop rate is awful...any ideas how to make this go quicker?

I tried it both ways. It did not seem to make a difference of how I attacked. I probably killed 15 total to get 2 perfect antlers.

I found a huge concentration of these animals between 54.22 and 59.18. Took me about 1hr and a half to get mine.

I recommend route between points (35,62) and (42,72). Until you make one run, you can turn back, as they have respawned

Wow. I killed 42 of these, my first antler dropped. Then, I killed a 43rd and my second antler dropped. Sometimes, I hate this game so much.
6% drop rate says they should drop every 16 kills. I guess I gave some other lucky Hunter a happy night.

There are lots of coursers in the area between the Legash Encampment (satyr camp) and Thalassian Base Camp (blood elves).

Be prepared to kill for a while. I finally got the first antler on the 29th kill and the second one four kills later.

Not sure about you guys but it took me no more than 10 mins to get my 2 antlers. I also killed some white rare elite gryph that was cruising by..dropped a junky green plate belt :/

OMG GUYS. I USED LIKE 2000k AROWS FOR THIS QUEST AND IT TOOK ME LIKE 2:30 HOURES TO DO IT. WHEN I GOT MY FIRTS ANTLER I WAS SO HAPPY THAT I JUMPED UP AND STARTED DANCING.

Just to the south of the Legash Encampment, you can find a wide source of Mosshoofs. However, you will also find a lot of Thunderhead Skystormers. However, I can confirm that if you kill Thunderhead Skystormers, more Mosshoofs will spawn. They are fairly easy to kill, too -- I'm level 50 and not having a problem.

Also, be sure to have Beast Tracking up. With the 2.3 changes, they will now show as a yellow dot on your screen among the several red.

I´m not really sure if this is anymore worth the fuss after 2.3, you can get into outland in no time and replace the trinket you would get from this.

Of course, why not try your luck while being in Azshara and kill a few mosshoofs, as I did.

Terrible odds getting any for me, but them being skinnable and all, I got made a killing in AH selling their leather, and leveled to 55 in the process. I'd do the quest when you are nice and rested, more exp that way, just good for the frustration this quest generates, btw, for me, It took about 50 of them then I got both of them consecutively...

So annoyed right now. I've checked ALL of the coords listed here, and every single one turns up MAYBE two of them, if I'm lucky. Damn the shitty drop rate, I can't even find the mobs!

I killed 8 or 10 all together, after getting killed the second time and discovering the Legash Encampment i was staning on some rocks at 49,21 and got them back to back without moving. Took 35 min. all together.

I just did this part of the chain last night. What a pain... the drop rate sucked. I killed every single Mosshoof I found in the area north of the ruins, looking EVERYWHERE from the Furbolgs camp all the way over the shoreline and every part in between. It took me over 2 hours to get my first antler, just as I was getting ready to give up on that area and move to the section south of the ruins. I must have killed close to 30 in the north area, then got my second one with about 10 kills south of the ruins. I don't care what anybody says, the north area is freaking hard to hunt in, Giants and Hipo's all over the place, the southern area was less congested and much easier to hunt in.

Oh by the way, both were taken off lvl 52 beast, not 53's.

i dont know if the patches did anything, but it took me 20 - 30 minutes to get both my antlers.not including the dental appointment i had :)

A tip: don't be in a party while doing this quest. Sometimes the quest item won't drop. Same thing happens with a quest in Feralas. If you are not in a party and still don't see it drop for some time, try using this command: /script LeaveParty()

1 hour and 15 minutes and STILL no drop. I've killed every single Courser I came across, they are easy to spot on the map with Beast tracking on... they show up yellow in a sea of red dots.
I've easily grinded my way from just 1 or 2 bars into level 50... to being 3 bars away from lvl 51 now, all just from this quest.
Very, very annoying. I had to call it a night and hearth to Orgrimmar for rested XP. I'll try again tomorrow. Good luck to anyone else who attempts this. I'm jealous of those I'm reading about that got it in 10 minutes or so... =(

Down the stags quickly, also using Scare Beast so that they can't use gore.

Once you eliminate gore, the drops will improve greatly.

Besides the area just north of Ogtinc, there is another area in southern Azshara that has many more coursers and fewer enemies. The coordinates are 37,69. You will have to travel a ways, but you won't have to deal with as many other enemies once you get there. If I had known about this place before I had completed this quest, I definitely would have gone here instead.

As a side note, the further south you go, there are elite mobs you will run into. As I was traveling through, they didn't come chasing after me, so long as I kept my distance. Still, you might want to stay aware of your surroundings.

Just another grinding quest with horrible drop rates, if i could do without http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19991 i would just say forget it, its more hassle than its worth, but i really want the trinket. Forget about http://www.wowhead.com/?item=20083 the ice barbed spear is much better http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19106 (Win an AB match @lvl 51). I got the drops on kills 19 & 21. What a pain.
If you're a skinner theres plenty of rugged & thick leather from the coursers.

I grinded over 24k of XP, not rested (at level 52), before the quest items dropped within 3 kills of each other. Horrible drop rate. :(

I found this quest to be a waste of time. They are impossible to find and at the end of the chain of quests you choose from a polearm and some trinkets, but when you are this close to outland you might as well wait for something better and focus on leveling.

I was grinding for about 2 hours on 52 and 53 coursers and still didnt get any antlers i went back the next and got 2 antlers in three kills, so i was there for about 2hrs and 5 mins to get them, and some people got in 5mins. pfft

Quit posting about where they are and how many kills it took. Everyone can look at the mob info to see where they are instead of getting 50 different coordinates from people. They can also look at the drop rate instead of reading anecdotes of great luck or bemoaning terrible luck.

id have to agree this takes a lot of patience... few coursers roam around they never drop those antlers, with you ending up with no more of these mobs to kill...

but then i found a better spot to hunt them. go to (36,69) of the map and you'll surely find more of em there. almost every corner. every kill i make, i can instantly start and transfer to a new target... this was where i acquired my perfect courser antlers in around 5-10mins... good compared to the no drop 30mins in other areas >_<

When I first started this quest at 50 I had a horrible time just finding Coursers let alone getting the antlers to drop. I would advise against going to the very northern area of Azshara because of the amount of elite giants in that area (called the Bitter Reaches for a good reason). Instead the Legashi area a bit west of that area is safer and has a good number of the mobs and is where I eventually completed the quest.

Got my antlers on the 4th and 5th drop at (51,26 ; 26,76) the thalassian base camp.
As a lvl 50 i had no problems with walking past the hyppogyphs.

This quest took no longer then 10 minutes for me. I only killed 4 Courser's and got my antlers on 3rd and 4th kill. I guess I am lucky since what I read about what other people have experienced in this quest, i thought it was going to take a long long time. But luckily for me, not londer then 10 mins and I hope any other hunters that do this quest have goodluck and dont spend hours searching for them.
If you spend more then 3 hours looking for these, forget about it. The rewards are gonna get replaced when you get into outlands, so dont bother if they arnt dropping for you.

Took me quite a while to finally obtain the two that the quest needed. Was fine for my skinning trade but was just repetitive in killing the same thing up towards 40 times before I finally got both to drop. I ran it with two other quests so I could bounce back and forth.

the Absolutly best place to get these is East Legash Enchampment (60,17) plus minus 10 to all sides(with the exception of north ofc ;))

it took about 20-30 mins to find both, found both in the north of the zone. fact is, you will encounter dozens of hippogryphs for every few courser. kill everyone you see and hope for good luck

Good directions - lots of 'em near 40, 72.

True - its a poor drop rate. I got mine on #15 and #24 . They do respawn quickly, though.

Watch out for dragonkin in the area - lvl 51-53 elites, etc.

I just finished this quest and it was horrible. It took me 3 hours to get antlers and I killed almost 150 Mosshoof Coursers. The drop is really rare.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems that while it takes FOREVER to get the first one, the second one drops not too long after. But in general, yeah, this is a pain. Like other people have said, look for them in the south near the dragon kin. It's a small mob, sure, but you don't have to search through mobs of hippogryphs to get to them. =P.
